I just made a topic. Be warned though, there's a toooon of photos. I've not seen much of North Carolina either, but I'm pretty much a homebody at heart lol. When my family goes out I usually opt to stay home and take care of the animals.

I did go down to the river earlier with my dogs. I saw a lot of wildlife, and some weird people camping beside the river... I didn't even know that was legal o.O

That sounds cool, something I'd do if able with my Doberman. Ugh, but I've been feeling sick for the past two days and my anxiety has been jumping around in level too

I'm sorry D: Do you take any medication for your anxiety?
Thank you CRG!

I have medication for it, but to try and conserve them I only take them at night when my anxiety is intolerable >.<

My anxiety got really bad last summer (partially because I have a severe lightning phobia and that's when all the intense storms happen), and when I had panic attacks I learned this technique where you tap on 'pressure points' throughout your body while counting. It sounds weird but it did help... I also found that focusing on some sort of activity, like cleaning or reading a book, would help.

You probably know this all already but I just thought I'd share work works for me haha

I also get the occasional panic attacks. They were really bad when I was both of your ages so know it can get better once your older. It was to the point I'd end up being in the psychward. Haven't been there in over 18 months now. When I was younger my panic attacks got so bad I'd occasionally sit on the floor sobbing in fettle position.

My boyfriend and I have talked about home-schooling our kids. Not for religious reasons (he's a fallen Catholic, I'm a Deist so... yeah), but because neither of us like the "testing" culture that seems dominant in the American public school system. Schools and school programs are designed to get kids to "test well" to ensure state and federal funding, and don't really do much to encourage creative or critical thinking skills. It seems to get worse every year.

Not to mention the violence that goes on in schools which--and I hate to sound like some old fart pining for the "good old days"--also seem to get worse every year.

If there was a good non-denominational/non-religious charter school we could get them into, that might be a different scenario. Neither of us will consider parochial school because we're not religious people and take serious umbrage with the entire religion v. science "debate." Our biggest concern with potential home-schooling is the lack of normal socialization.

What a crappy choice to have to make. Thankfully, we're not looking at having kids until we're married and a few years older.

I'm pretty well acquainted with those sorts of panic attacks. It sucks, but that is the card I got dealt. I do sometimes feel resentment towards my parents for having children when mental disorders run on both sides of the family and they were well aware of the genetic influence those sorts of things have.

I've never heard of anyone getting hospitalized for them, my cousin recently had an attack and he went in and they sent him home after giving him a nerve pill and told him to relax. The reason we've confirmed I'm an agoraphobic with a fear of leaving the house was after I contemplated moving out of a moving vehicle, we figured not to just take the chance. The attacks make you feel like your about to die, that you could have a heart attack if you try and go any further.

And for me, it's become such a vicious cycle, I can't do anything at all, almost.

That sounds horrible. And yeah it was pretty bad the first time I was freaking out with a bit of paranoia. However I still think there is a good chance I was right. The second time I felt like and think I was being partially posessed. I was acting crazy and going a million thoughts a second and I couldn't control what I was saying or doing and pretty much blacked out. They couldn't help me though.

That doesn't sound like a panic attack or anxiety. So they could never figure out exactly what caused it? Panic Disorder can give your racing thoughts but nothing to that extreme that I've ever heard of, that sounds rather frightenining too. I wish there was more help for people in this country that suffer from mental ailments, our's are just as real as physical illness.

I don't know anyone's favorite animals here but I was looking through WildImages' photostream on flickr and I found some of these photos then searched for one to make the banner. And they kind of reminded me of Mysty, if you want to use them, you can. It's just something I did in spare time while making myself some new sets (like the Crowned Crane).

I wouldn't do the homeschooling IMO. These days it is more important to know how to communicate with people than to actually have knowledge. You could of course always move to Europe xD
