Kinda like Susan said, I don't vote for parties or sides (or I won't when I'm old enough to vote :P) I vote for the people and what they will do in office. That generally aligns with conservative/right wing policies, but ya know, I'm from Texas. xD
Texas is almost a mostly democratic state except for a group now. lol
That's just the big cities like Austin and Houston. I think we're still majority conservative. I actually even know that many Democrats that live near me. But yes, there are quite a few Democrats here.

When you live in Belgium, it's already a miracle if you manage to understand the entire political situation here xD
If after that, you manage to choose a side and stand behind it, you are a hero
And if then you manage to covert that choice to the US system; you truly deserve a Noble Prize :worship:

In other words: I know nothing about politics :P

What's a politic?

Anyways, this is similar to Ohio or even Florida, in a way. Most of the bigger cities in both states lean democrat, but the suburbs/rural areas lean republican. That's why we're swing states, although I think Texas will remain republican for quite some time, especially because of what happened last night with the senate elections (And I'm fairly please with the results) I myself could agree with the most o you, I land pretty much in the middle of the political spectrum since I agree with some democratic and some republican ideas. Hmm..... maybe I should just start my own party :P

It's been on BBC I think. It was quite a scandal. Well, I'm not so into politics but a "racist" political party got 13% of the votes in Sweden the last election (like, 2 months ago). 13% is indeed a lot of people .. Of course the situation is more complicated but yeah, it's kind of embarrassing :P

Sounds a bit like Belgium, only here it's not racism :P The guys that want to split up our country are the biggest party with almost 40% xD

That's crazy. It's like taking a step back in time. I thought we were over all the racism and country splitting :P

Belgium splitting doesn't seem such a bad idea, given the two totally different cultures and languages... Besides, most people in Wallonia only speak French, and an awful one with that.

UK politics has gone mental recently too, the UK Independence Party is suddenly outta nowhere gaining loads of popularity and has taken away a lot of voters from the Conservative Party, and is obviously worse.

Normally I'd have less issues with this since then Labor would win with the Right Wing vote split, but Labors losing a lot of it's voters to the Scottish National Party despite the 'No' vote on them leaving the union.

[Warning, opinionated rant ahead]

So it almost feels like the vote at this point could go four ways at the next election, then throw in that at the last election no one actually won but the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats formed a coalition (which was basically the Conservatives in power with the Liberal Democrats doing nothing but feeling happy for being close to power for once), so I'm terrified if things don't go as planned Conservatives and UKIP will form a coalition, and thus the UK will be out of the EU and royally fucked in almost every capacity since neither party has decent policies beyond appealing to old out of touch racists and assholes.

[/Rant]
