Lots of climbing structures and a large moat with nothing for them to jump from. Proboscis movies can leap very far and are great swimmers. |

I think that it looks great. Maybe an enclosure for a lion pride 1.3. |

Is there a way to keep my red bellied piranhas/arapaima/tiger oscars/electric eels from beaching themselves? I have an Amazon river themed underwater viewing area that also goes through my jaguar exhibit, and my fish keep swimming up onto land and drying themselves out. Can I use the short aviary fence to keep them in, or can they just swim right over it? I don't want to put a tank wall in because it'll make the exhibit look weird. |

I don't remember if fish can swim over fences, you could try. I do hope however that you are not housing all those together, realistically speaking it's just asking for a bloodbath. Edited by Furka, Jan 29 2016, 08:55 AM.

Are Common Genets, Waldrapps, and European River Otters able to be found in beginning zoos in North America? |

I wouldn't think waldrapps but I could be wrong. I've seen many small zoos that have European otters so I don't see why not and I've seen Genets as pets so it wouldn't be too hard to get your hands on them |

Those are literally all European species, why are you starting with European species in North America? |

That's not an updated list. I have never seen waldrapps at Cheyenne Mountain and I know a few other zoos have them. This is also why AZA needs a website like zootierliste. |

I agree with Burns for the zootierliste thing. To answer Huuhumu's question, those are not common species in NA. American River Otter would make more sense. Waldrapp are unlikely in a NA beginning zoo. Try to go for NA or SA ibis or spoobill species. The genet seems ok since every zoo needs a little oddball species here and there at the beginning.

Well the zoo is already starting to develop but I wanted to see if those species can be acquired early in the zoo's history or much later. Also those three species can also be found in the wilderness of the Maghreb and I was making a North African area in my zoo. Thanks for all the info. I'm not going to get Waldrapps or the Old World Otters any time soon my RTZI zoo then. Edited by Guat, Feb 6 2016, 01:41 PM.
