Why not try to create the illusion your guests are going through a waterfall? You could exhibit mountain/stream species right after that. Do any of you know Which subspecies of Ocelot and Marguay are usually kept in North America? Thanks! |

My local zoo's website lists the ocelot of Leopardus pardalis, if that helps. Didn't have a specific subspecies though. |

I think it looks pretty good for a late Ice Age look. |

I'm working on an aquarium design that focuses on various major rivers of the world. For the Yangtze section, there's going to be a tank featuring Chinese giant salamanders. However, in the wild they're apparently territorial with fairly sizable territories. Does anyone know if the zoos that keep them have had any success keeping multiple individuals to an enclosure outside of breeding attempts? |

From everything that I've seen, there has only been one to an enclosure. I think it may be to the reasons you said, about them being territorial. (Plus they are pretty hard to get a hold of.) Apparently Japanese Giant Salamanders have been held in numbers before. Edited by Burns, Dec 11 2016, 11:01 AM.

Is a 3 by 6 meter exhibit big enough for a Coconut Crab? |

I think that would actually be rather large. That sI've could probably hold a breeding colony. If you just wanted one, I think a 3 by 2 by 2 would actually be pretty good for one. |

Thanks for the help, that'll give me plenty of options of where to hold them in my zoo. |

Can kelp geese live in a walkthrough aviary or are they too aggressive? |

I think they would be too aggressive and sensitive to the other birds and people |

Could I have a large exhibit with Grizzly bears and Black bears, but they would be separated by a large moat and some rocks? |

Grizzlies can swim relatively well and American black bears are great climbers (at least in trees). Better to be safe than sorry. |

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could make a burrowing system in an exhibit. By this I mean simply small black holes in the ground so that it looks like a network of burrows. I'm not fond of the savannah burrows etc and think small dark holes would look better. Any suggestions on how I might achieve this? |

![]() I'm currently working on a nocturnal-Africa area, and have space for this little aviary-exhibit, and can't really figure out what species to put there. Some kind of monkey, I figure, but I'm not sure which one. Has to be African, and would be nice if it 'fits in' with the Vultures, Aardvarks and Pangolins which surround the exhibit. Preferably no Lemurs as I'm planning on making a seperate Madagascar Area. Thank you! |
