so I might adapt it for wolves?

That was a suggestion I got from Wes, maybe even Mountain Lions.
Perhaps a Caracal?

Caracals are even smaller than Lynxes (this enclosure was intended for Eurasian).

That and I separate Northwick Zoo into different continents like American animals, African, Asian etc. and this is on the North American & European Map, so it would have to be an American or European animal.

So after being inactive for a few months (I have began my placement year abroad and I am currently living in Austria) I have decided to come back after being very motivated after a recent visit to tiergarten scöhnbrunn in Vienna. I am asking for a few comments and or ideas on two exhibits in particular. The first is about giant pandas...I know the basics and regular ideas such as two exhibits due to their infrequent social interactions and off show exhibits as well as indoor dens etc. But I want to know what could I include to give my complex that 'X factor' something to really make it stand out!? Any suggestions?

The second question involves orangutans, I have an idea for the house but at present the outdoor exhibit is just a regular ape exhibit, nothing exciting either. What could I include to make it really world class? I unfortunately have no photos of either of the exhibits in question but below I have included a WIP picture of the orang house to give you an idea of what I'm doing at the moment...

Spoiler: click to toggle

Well Welcome back! =D
I'll start with the Pandas:
1. You could create a waterfall shelter? You know a waterfall and then behind it is a den or shelter for the pandas? You couldn't make a traditional waterfall using the regular functions of Zoo Tycoon but there are mods that allow you to make a custom waterfall.
2. You could create an intricate climbing enrichment thing. There are certain mods that allow you to build with logs to create climbing things for the pandas. They'd never use it but it would be cool to see if you did it right.
3. You could create a Yin-Yang shaped Panda enclosure which is self explanatory just build an exhibit that from above looks like a Yin-Yang or if you've already created the exhibit just make the indoor shelter seem like a Yin-Yang

Orangutans:
1. You could use numbers 1 and 2 if you don't use them for the Panda.
2. Make a super high climbing enrichment like a series of bridges kinda like these
Spoiler: click to toggle

3. Make a series of islands as an exhibit for the Orangutans
4. Make a boat ride through a river inside of an Orangutan exhibit
5. Do something like Zoo 360 where they created catwalks over the paths into other exhibits like this:
Spoiler: click to toggle

Yeah so anyway sorry if this was extensive but I like giving other Tycooners ideas =)

Thanks for your input AnimalGenius. My panda exhibit has now been planned and is in he process of building. My orangutan exhibit still doesn't have that unique, special something. I'm also making a proboscis monkey exhibit in the same area but as they are so underrepresented in zoos and I am not familiar with them that much I was wondering can anyone give any pointers on an exhibit for them? Please and thank you :)

Well you could use all the previous idea I gave you for the Proboscis monkey but here's a new idea:
You could make a cloud forest valley type of thing. Surround an exhibit with mountains make sure its a rainforest and then on the peaks of the mountains add fog machines and on the ground will be the Proboscis monkey exhibit.

Do African Rhinoceros like water? I know their Asian relatives love it, but do the African Rhinos also like to spend (much) time in the water? I know that in Africa on a lot of places there isn't much water. But when there is, do they use it to bath or not?

I don't think they bath like indian rhinos, but a source of wet mud is basically mandatory.

Yeah I'll just stay with the mud pools for the Rhinos. Couldn't find much on google about the bathing of African Rhinos so I think I won't add much water to their exhibits.

Sorry for double posting but their are two days since my last post.

I'm currently planning on a large section in my zoo centering around mountains and highlands of Africa. This is what I've currently got:

- Simien Mountains (Ethiopia): Gelada Baboon, Ethiopian Klipspringer, Ethiopian Wolf, Mountain Nyala & Walia Ibex
- Mt. Kenya (Kenya): Common Duiker & Eastern Bongo
- Virunga Mountains (Democratic Republic of the Congo): Mountain Gorilla, Okapi & African Leopard

Can you maybe help me with some more mountains/highlands which have an unique wildlife or additions the three I've currently got?

Yeah sure I can help! =D

- Maromokotro Highlands
: The rocky terrain of Madagascar home to troops of Ring Tailed Lemurs, Giant Tortoises and many other species of birds and reptiles

- Mount Kilimanjaro
: The highest mountain in Africa which happens to be a dormant volcano is home to bushbucks, chameleons, dik-diks, duikers, mongooses, sunbirds, warthogs, elephants, cape buffaloes, zebras, hyenas, and shrews

- Toubkal
: The snowy mountain peaks of Morocco home to the wildcat, the porcupine, the genette, the mongoose, mountain goats, the gypaete, the golden eagle, the bonelli eagle, the botte eagle, the circaete, the peregrine falcon and 30 species of reptiles

I could've done more but I'm going to let you do some more research now but here's a link to the Geography of Africa which shows a list of mountainous regions

Madagascar will be a separate region so I will focus on the "mainland" of Africa. The problem I have with Mt. Kilimanjaro is that the species you sum up are not living on the mountain itself but on the plains/plateaus around the mountain. Though I will definitely look into the species you've summed up and try to use this (maybe a separate section with a large mountain in the middle and some enclosures around the mountain).

Well if you're interested in other highlands I did provide a link but I'm glad I helped in whatever way I did. =D

Just so you know, Mountain Gorillas are not kept in captivity, may be possible now, but a plan to get some is nearly impossible.
