I'm anoyed at my yacare exhibit... there is something i don't like about it... don't know if it is the foliage, the biome that use... the underwater viewing looks fine (and the fish worked perfectly, so thanks Furka) but the outdoor exhibit doesn't convince me... and i can't remake it at this point :S.

so i was just playing around and made this African exhibit. it's a classic rhino-zebra-giraffe- ostrich combination, with rhinos having their own area where other animals can get in too.

my question is, would it be possible to add meerkats to this exhibit ?
and would they need their own indoor area or could they use one belonging to the other animals ?
any addictional tips would be appreciated

I really don't think meerkats in there are a good idea. The could get killed if a zebra or a rhino stepped on them... i would make a separate exhibit for the meerkats. And you could also add some trees for the giraffe, some grass (not to much) and a small pond for the animals to drink.

I think it would be possible. You would have to change the fence to something fully concrete/bricks though and maybe something higher. Also, I'd add a moat to the left side of the exhibit.
Some other tips:
-Smoothen the moat, most moats don't go 5 meters straight downwards. I'd also make it a little broader, which makes it easier to smoothen it.
-Hills. Add some hills, which make the fence in the back a little less visible. A sort of "pit" (I don't know a better word, I hope you'll understand) for the Rhinos to roll in is also nice.
-I'd do something with the roof...This might be an interesting topic :) A flat roof is rather uncommon. Also, the animals don't need such large indoors (a 2/3x4 per animal is more than ok).

I know, I give lots of tips, and I'm not even sure if they are all good xD

I'm pretty sure any animal in the enclosure with them could kill the meerkats, they're all large or potentially dangerous. My suggestions are the same, a different enclosure or an indoor exhibit where they are completely enclosed off from the other animals but they're within the general area for an african theme your going for.

I'd also add one or two trees for shade and the giraffes and maybe a little elevation difference?

^My local zoo keeps Yellow mongooses with Lions. I think it's completely fine to keep them with Giraffes, Zebra's and Rhinos :P

They keep mongooses with Lions? :O i never would tought that would be possible... they must be a very docile lions, because as far as i know cats love to kill and play with small prey. xD

- forgot the moat on the left, thanks for reminding
- i will make the moat more shallow, but i'm not sure i'll change how wide is now,i wanted this to look like the giraffes could still reach the guests with their heads and eat them. a larger moat wouldn't allow that.
- hills and pit, i'm on it
- didn't even think some of those could be possible, thanks for sharing. the indoor areas however are about the size you said, considering the exhibit has 3 ostriches, 3 giraffes and 5 zebras, i left some extra space for future animals. the rhino one is pretty big, i admit

thanks to everyone for the tips :)

-Okay, but how about making like, not so straight? It would make it a little more realistic. Or, add a fence around the moat (the low DD fence for example), so you can just change the concrete fence to a not-concrete fence at the other side of the moat, which also should look a little nicer :)
-Yay :D
-Great!

@zoocrazy: The mongooses are in another enclosure atm, since one of the lions attacked and killed one. That lion's died now, but it's still safer this way indeed. It was an experiment though. But I think we can be sure the Meerkats should be able to escape from an angry Rhino/Giraffe/Zebra, certainly if they have some bushes to hide in and a separated area.

Well it seems like it wasn't such a good idea after all... i feel kind of bad for the poor mongoose... they shouldn't tried that. But anyway, i still think that meerkats in here is not a good idea, i do think that they can be killed by any of this animals. Plus is always cool to build a merkat exibit, you can even try to make an underground viewing area for the guests... i think in Disney's Animal Kingdom they have something like that (at least they used to, 14 years ago xD)

That sounds awesome. Also you really should split that update into 3 updates as it won't load for a lot of people if its on the same page as another update.
