When things fall off shelves in the night when you're terying to sleep. This flashlight that was on my desk somehow rolled off when I was trying to sleep, and I think almost crapped myself. |

Documentaries that portray Azhdarchids as weakling, clumsy, vulture-like scavengers. That idea's a throwback from the 80's, and these days it's just an incredible insult to a truly badass group of animals! In general, I'm annoyed that usually the only reason pterosaurs are included in fiction is so the Mesozoic sky won't look empty!

When people get all up in my face for not knowing a dinosaur's name, or pronouncing it wrong IRL, yet get bent out of shape when I call Tyrannosaurus by it's real original name If you're going to complain to me that I mixed up a Ankylosaurus and a Euplocephalus then you really shouldn't mind me referring to Tyrannosaurus as a Manospondylus Edited by Murdock129, Sep 11 2013, 09:08 PM.

Well, Manospondylus is an outdated synonym and is not considered its proper generic name. Tyrannosaurus has been the correct name for over a century, plus it sounds cooler! But I agree that people shouldn't be annoyed that you would mistake Euoplocephalus for Ankylosaurus (especially when there's people I know who have called it Stegosaurus). Everyone makes mistakes, that's just life.

Manospondylus was the original interpretation of the name and was discovered and named first, surely if we're going by the logic if the more popular name is the correct one then surely Apatosaurus should still be called Brontosaurus should it not? |

Normally that would be the case, but the name Tyrannosaurus took priority for some special reason that I forget the details of (I think T.rex's Wikipedia article explains the ordeal). Sorry, that comment was meant for Murdock.

I looked on Wikipedia, and it said:
Firstly it makes reference that by original rules (up until only 13 years ago, over a century after Manospondylus was first named), Manospondylus gigas should have been the correct name, and that it was only changed very recently, likely when for the very reason of maintaining the incorrect name so as to avoid the embarrassment of admitting the wrong name had been used for so long. I would personally maintain that at best the ICZN is changing it's own rules to fit it's own personal agenda. Manospondylus is the original name, the correct name, and going back tot he Brontosaurus name, I bet I could find at least 25 works, published by 10 different authors in the immediately preceding 50 years which refer to it as a Brontosaurus, which therefore would make Brontosaurus a correct scientific name by their own standards. So either Brontosaurus is not correct but Manospondylus is, or Manospondylus isn't but neither is Apatosaurus. Simply because Manospondylus is a famous dinosaur doesn't mean we can have it both ways. |

When people make you socialize their way, everyone has their own ways and likes on socializing, and when someone, particularly parents or teachers complains about you not socializing it's incredibly annoying and stupid. We do socialize, I socialize with people online, just because it's not your way, or you don't understand it doesn't make it any less legitimate, heck I enjoy socializing with friends online much better than being stuck in places with real people in person which I'll often find very uncomfortable, and not be able to be so confident or comfortable as I am talking to people online |
