I hate how my entire yard has become a roost for crows. I mean, I love corvids, but they're getting annoying.

The best way to not get your heart broken, is pretending you don't have one.

The reason we killed the snake is because we have a pond and a issue with snakes eating our fish.

Thank you for the set, Azrael!

That's still no reason. Catch it and release it a few blocks away in the woods.

And obviously a bear would have this same "catch and release policy" if you came into it's territory, or any other predator, if it's on someone's land, or invading their home. I believe they have a right to handle it as they want. I don't condone the death of anything needlessly.

That's a good point, and I agree. Shasta didn't make it clear at first that there was a reason for killing the snake, but if they're eating his fish then fair enough. I personally wouldn't have killed it, but you're right that people should be able to handle things their own way if it's on their property.

I like animals as much as the next guy, but if I saw my turtle being attacked, I may well kick whatever's attacking him's head in. But that's just me.

I'm fine with snakes and predators being in my garden, our resident fox still shows up sometimes and we have several grass snakes in the compost heap eating slugs and whatnot (well I think they might be hibernating now), but if they mess with your pets... at least with me that means it's open season.

I'm not for needless death but if they saw the need to kill the snake then I don't think we should chastise them (heck if they didn't kill it what's to say it wouldn't just come back?)

Fair enough, we all have our own ways with dealing with things like that, and whose to say what's really right or wrong, we can only give our opinions.

Also something annoying, ever had your face feel like it's going numb out of nowhere? It's really uncomfortable and weird

Now English I can understand for the most part, you need to be literate, you need to understand how writing and language works and you need to be able to articulate. You do not need to learn about how a certain aspect is portrayed in a literary or film work (It really takes the fun out of watching Batman Begins when you have to analyse how the theme of fear is used in every individual scene), and nor do you need to learn about Poetry, I highly doubt Poetry should be among our core subjects.

Next, Science, again a lot of it is understandable, learning how things work is important, but many of those things we learn about go into detail far beyond what we need, how Photosynthesis works for example is useful in some careers but not very many, nor is calculating how far a ping pong ball will bounce, or learning about the chemical reactions of arsenic.

And worst is Math, I have barely used most of my Science knowledge from school, and I've used a bit of my English knowledge, but Math, all I've ever used are addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions and percentages. I have never needed to explain how I got my answer, I have never needed to know Pythagorean's Theory or square roots, or Rhombus's or so on.

There are two reasons why you see things in such detail.

First one. Time. Basically, if you have to learn all of that at university or university college, educations would be much longer, and most people who want to study after high school would end up in the labour market when they're in their early or middle 30's.

Second, interest. You get a broad spectrum to get a basic knowledge of things, but also to discover what your interests are. The majority of children only get interested in certain things when they know more than just the real basics.

Although I agree with you that some fundamental things about life aren't explained ( though on the other hand, education isn't only the school's responsibility, but also the parents' responsibility, so they should explain some of that stuff as well ), there is a good and logic reasoning behind the current education system. It doesn't work for all, fully agreed. But if it wasn't working for the majority of children, it would have been changed by now. ;)

And btw, without square roots and Pythagoras' Theorem, you'll find yourself struggling when you want to rebuild/build your own home/terrace/roof, without professional help :P Knowing a good bit of maths is a real money saver sometimes xD

killing animals depend on the situation.

No one would see weather the venomous snake in front of him is endangered or not. It is going to bite him so, for self defense he will automatically kill it.

or move away from it ? that seems a more logical and less dangerous thing to do.

i myself would have never killed that snake. i would have rather caught it and released it away or tried to keep it as pet if the size allowed me to.
if it was a cat, however ...

It depends. I'd have kept the snake because snakes are awesome.
Was it a guy, though, some good kicks in the arse are the best solution.
