I guess the teacher got their words confused, I mean bears are herbivorous, they eat plants and berries and up to 85% of a Black Bear's diet is made up of vegetation, but they also eat meat which would make them omnivorous. Generally though, apart from the Grizzly and Polar Bear, I wouldn't describe bears as Apex Predators, because they use their size to intimidate other predators from kills more than actively hunting (even if they have no predators themselves) and by that logic the Megatherium in WWB is an apex predator too ![]() Also, are you sure they didn't say amphibious? That just means lives in water and on land, so that's probably what they meant. Anyway, we're kind of getting a bit off topic here, maybe we should save the bear dietary habit discussion for a different topic?

When there's some idiot in the reptile house at the zoo who thinks all the reptiles are statues just because they don't move. Never mind that these are sluggish ectothermic animals, and it's the middle of winter! Even worse is when some little kid is banging on the glass, screaming at the poor rattlesnake to move!

The one student was referring to brown bears; which are not herbivores like deer or moose and that was implied. No, he said "amphibian", and "related to the frogs". |

My biology teacher this year doesn't even teach us... He makes us do work by ourselves or in groups and just sits there chewing his nails. I haven't learned a thing in his class yet because pretty much all we do is make concept maps or copy graphs out of the book.

I haven't learned a thing in any biology class ever; there's really nothing that they teach that I didn't already know, having learned on my own just from having an interest in biology anyway. |

Pity more students aren't interested in biology. If interest in biology and science replaced interest in "SWAG" and dumb internet memes (well, the good memes can stay), then we wouldn't be cursed with these incompetent excuses for teachers. While thinking turtles are amphibians is a common and somewhat forgiveable mistake (except for science teachers), thinking bears are herbivores is downright idiotic. It's well known that grizzlies eat salmon, and that black bears will scavenge the kills of smaller predators like wolves and coyotes. All bears have fangs and large claws, certainly not herbivore features!

People who pick on people just for the heck of it annoy me. I mean seriously! You have nothing to gain from picking on a helpless person!

My "science enrichment" classes used to consist of the teacher sitting around and telling us to do group work. We were always done like fifteen minutes in, and spent the rest of the class watching her axolotl. Annoyed by the fact that my Ipod enjoys stopping by itself mid-song. It's really not fun. When classmates on Facebook don't help you out or respond when you're looking for some assistance with an assignment, or even just asking them if they know if your group is going on a field trip the next day. People these days are so impersonal and just don't go out of their way to help other people, and when your school is as close-knit and small as mine is, you would think everyone would help each other out, but it rarely works that way. It's really annoying and sad when you're one of the few people who care. Edited by TheZooTycooner14, Sep 24 2013, 09:47 PM.

Preteens that act like they can be rude to me only because I'm just a few years older (and not an adult). Seriously? >_> |

...But will they blend? Also, the way Shakespeare writes really rustles my jimmies. "I'm sorry Macbeth, I just couldn't understand anything you said." |

Things I like about William Shakespeare: His endings are always pretty messed up. Things that annoy me about William Shakespeare: I don't need two paragraphs to tell me someone is drinking a cup of tea! |
