I don't have oxygen maker things, those are way too loud. My filters oxygenate the water. |

mine does that too, not too much but that's why I keep species with low oxygen requirements. anyway, being unable to identify the species of fish I catch. Most people would get along with something like "it's a sturgeon" and nothing else other than maybe a popular nickname for the species/variety, but not me, I need to find out the exact species I caught. And it's quite frustrating. |

The fact that whenever I try to keep fish, they always die in like... three days even though I'm feeding it properly, and all of its equipment is working properly. |

Fish are not easy pets to keep. Their tanks need to be "cycled" or they die of ammonia poisoning. Everything except for a betta also needs at least a five, sometimes a ten or even twenty gallon tank to live. My bettas live in bowls but they have live plants to help absorb wastes and I clean them twice a week. |

This link might help you. Basically, before you keep fishes, you need an operating tank. Before you buy fishes, you need to research which fish eats what and which ones shouldn't be mixed. Temperature and other water properties are also different in each species' requirements. Lots of research to do. Lots of pride after a tank starts working properely. |

Well bettas are pretty aggressive usually. So they will obviously go for the guppies long flowing fins. |

Actually usually females are docile, but the guppy was red and bright. |

Bettas of both genders can be vicious or placid. I've had two males who lived together without fighting. I also had males who lived fine with baby platies. Then there was the female who killed a cichlid twice her size or the male who could only live with 6 inch gouramis because he beat everything else up so bad. |

What?! How can a female betta beats up and kills a cichlid twice her size?!!! Annoyed by some fishkeepers that see "mouth opening" of those mouth-brooding cichlids as cruelty. Mouth opening is the process when the breeders open the mother fish's mouth to gather her fries or her eggs from her mouth to raise themselves. It help the mother to recover faster since when there are full of egg in her mouth, the mother don't eat anything. Collect the eggs from her mouth will let her eat and be ready for the next breeding faster. But someone just see it as improper way to breed the fish.... |

While I wouldn't have anything against it if it was purely to keep the female in good health, doing so just so she can produce even more offspring is nothing but running a business Why hide it behind pretty pictures?
