Well, I would call it "good for both animal and its owner's business." I would still recommend to do mouth opening even for the one who keep their fish as hobby.... Letting the female carrys her eggs would just make her become less healthy due the starvation and stress. Female becomes also more alert at this time as well. In the nature, she can just hide somewhere and feels safe, but in the transparent, square tank which has a little space and hideout compare to the natural habitat. The female will become even more stress. Especially, for some species that have long duration of hatching their eggs. But if you look in the business way. Yes, mouth-opening is always better.... |

My betta is now transferred to a bowl from the main tank with silver sharks, silver dollars, and many more... but cleaning his tank is very difficult. The giant tank is cleaned by a person from the pet store, whereas, I clean the bowl myself. A lot of LOT OF poop gets accumulated at the bottom, but I close my eyes and clear it..... This annoys me, because the fish eats less than the amount it poops. |

I understand you... Betta has very big piece of dung compare to its body. If Oscar has the same ratio, its poop would be as tick as pen.... |

Well, it's my fault not to warn my mother when she cleaned the tank for me.(I was too busy to do it myself.) Cyan at that time, shared the divided tank with a female Convict Cichlid name Pixie.... After my mom cleaned the tank, she pushed the divider too deep into the substrate.... So, Pixie can cross the divider and ribbed off a piece of Cyan's tail. He survived from the hungry cichlid but after that he refused to eat and always hide. There was nothing serious about his wound, but a few day later, he died. I don't even know why.

Overly busy weekends. Like this one. Friday evening I'm going to get me new shoes and after that I'm going to a bar with some friends. Then, Saturday morning I have to go to my gliding theory lessons, which means waking up at 7.30 AM. I get back at approximately 2 PM. Then I have exactly four hours to study, after which I have to go to work (from 6 PM till 2 AM). Sunday I have to work as well, but from 12 AM until 6 PM. This means I can only sleep until 11 AM (normally after a night's work I sleep until...2-3 PM). And then I have to get some time with my dog in between there and I'd love to read some in Storm of Swords. I'm going to be a zombie next week. |

yes I did, and they lasted longer even in the past when I kept them less properly. My guess is that they got either too cold, or there was something wrong with the box I moved them in, or a disease has spread among them. I threw them under the hedge, I know this will make the blackbirds happy. TBH I'm not very sorry for them, more annoyed by the fact I have to buy new ones next time I go fishing. |

That is bad Furka. Well, That is very sad that your Cyan died, JMT, I can feel you, only fishkeepers know it. Well, My solar which was white at the beginning took up a turquoise body color and a red bordering on his fin. He lives in a bowl. Back on topic, annoyed by the fact that exams are knocking on my door !
