annoys me when people think its "oh so horrific" that some places eat dog
I get if you don't want to eat it, thats fine, but people who actively denounce other cultures because they eat dogs just makes me so mad
While I believe everyone should respect others cultures and not judge base on differences.

It's not really all that surprising, dogs and cats to many people in 1st world countries are considered family members, alot of people incapable of having children of socializing with other people turn to these animals for a sense of companionship.

By your logic, cannibalism used to be apart of some tribal cultures and we should let that continue.

How bland British food tastes in comparison to American food, sure there's more variety of enjoyable stuff here, but the stuff that is in both places (Pizza, Fried Chicken, Hot Dogs) is much blander in the UK

Making opinion on something just by some bad cases. Like how often people say that all Jews want to take over the world, because they know one paricularly mean one, or that all Christians are bad, because they have bad experiences with some of them.
Totally agreed, stereotyping is so annoying. Similarly not all atheists are out to prove Christians wrong or prove God doesn't exist. Frankly I don't care what other people believe, and it's not my place to say otherwise, but it'd be nice for people not to act like all atheists are the same! Same as how not every American is obese and not every British person likes tea (although just for the record, tea is freaking awesome)

And not all Canadians say "eh" either (in fact, I don't know anyone who says "eh" more than someone in any other country would).

The only Canadian I've known in person was my social studies teacher in the eighth grade and she said "eh" after every sentence xD

I can't say about the 'Eh' thing, but I will say in my experience every Canadian person I've met has fit the stereotype of Canadians being the most friendly, pleasant, likable, polite and generally all around nice people you'd ever meet.

Can't really think of any other stereotypes that I've seen before IRL that I have any experience with off the top of my head

I'd like to say that the only person I've known who said "eh" more than the next guy was actually Guatemalan, and the several Canadians I've met have never done so xD

But are you nice, and do you like Maple Syrup?

Also somewhat related:

I consider myself a likeable person, though I personally prefer table syrup to maple syrup (even though it's not as natural).

Nice yes - and yes on the syrup and poutine. You got me there.

I am not a proud Canadian though. Even though my family has been here for several generations (since the beginning) Canada has gone down hill badly. It was a thriving booming in the 90's but now the government has cut funding to everything and the prices have skyrocketed. Over immigration is another problem which has contributed to the horrid living cost of living. In Vancouver and the surrounding lower mainland it has killed it. The immigrants are lucky - they have ten people living and working in one house .. thus they can buy more home and businesses. Thus pushing the prices up. Mostly in Bc and Ontario. House range from 450k-950k and the cost of food/essentials for a family of four is around 1200 a month. Places like New Brunswick are still not as bad but very low employment.

My husband works full time and makes over 25 an hour - even with me working we can not afford to live here. It is a real blow as we both grow up here and love it.

Next year I am excited to announce we are moving to Ohio! You can still buy a house for 125k - 200k!!! We also were shocked to find that 1200 a month food/essentials bill drops down to only 600 a month. I used to laugh and criticize the USA but at least they have affordable living still.

I'm thinking of moving to Utah when I'm older, though mostly just because of the many fabulous Morrison formation fossil sites there. :P

That sounds awesome! We were not sure where to move - but we do know we are looking to buy a farm. I am going to open up my own dog kennel and do horse boarding/training.

We wanted somewhere close to Canada, green and cheap. I have friends in Virginia so I been poking them for ideas. Ohio was thrown out there and after some research it looks great!

I could also move to Alberta since there are just as many Mesozoic-age fossil deposits there. Frankly I'm not quite sure which is closer. :P
