There is a reason people classify functionally extinct animals as extinct, because while specimens still exist, it is not enough for them to survive the next decade or so, or no way to breed them and keep them around. It's not wrong.
the baiji is even more so than that
its generally considered extinct because of how long its been since any were seen

so that's more than just functionally extinct

I know it might sound mean but...stop taking the dogs in? People will stop dumping them there if they realize you won't take them in lol
The problem with this is it's not just my house where dogs get dumped at, it's our whole road. Another issue is the dogs are likely to get hit by a car and cause a fatal incident for a human. I also live three houses down from a deer meat butcher. I also worry about them eating my elderly neighbor's cats that are frantic and sometimes dart out the door. Another issue is my other neighbor's aggressive Weiner dog (only aggressive towards other dogs) and she'll run at them and bite at them. Also, we don't have a animal shelter that would take the animals in because of our location on the county boarder.
But what happens when you take in so many animals that you can no longer take care of any of them? It's a tricky situation but sometimes "nature" has to take it's course.

You cannot save every life and every creature, as sad as that is.

Not to derail this but I'm pretty sure any dog besides another dachshund could hold it's own against that.

Yes bit wikipedia says there endangered not EX
But Wikipedia is not always right ;)

And other times, the wiki page just isn't updated straight away with new information, so it is possible it's just outdated info ;)

I suggest you just hunt them and take their stuff. You must establish a strict hierarchy if you wish for them to respect and fear you.

It annoys me that I can't seem to get a consistent night's sleep these days. The only way I can describe what I've become is like... "reverse-crepuscular".
About the hierarchy, this is kind of how it is in the stomping land except it's a little more challenging to do. xD

I'm worried about the Weiner dog getting itself killed. I'm going to go on and try and find a shelter to take them because right now I'm going to try and keep only my two dogs (Izzy and Cubbie)

Rat snake is love... Rat snake is life

A tiny and harmless (and rather cute) Oligodon sp. snake appeared at the side of the street and these group of housewives in my village kept yelling "Kill it! Kill it!".....

Luckily, I saved the little snake in time by driving it into the shrub near by....

I think for the time being, you're doing good work, Manakel. Should those dogs be allowed to roam free, you'd pretty soon end up with packs of ferals. It's beyond unreasonable to me to dump animals like that, even more to think that letting them roam free is a good choice of actions.

Sadly that happens because today dogs have become little more than toys to some people. Once they get tired of them, they abandon them.
I have yet to see someone who keeps dogs for serious reasons (hunting, herding etc) abandon them like that.

Another thing that happens so often lately is those who don't spray their dogs. And when accident happens and their dog get pregnant or breed with stray dog and the puppies are born into mongrels. The owner always deny their responsibility and abandon the puppies after they can't find someone to take them away.

If they were carried in a rat cage, I wouldn't mind xD
It's those things that people call chihauhau's and that are carried around in handbags, or driven around in strollers, wearing all sorts of ridiculous clothing xD
