I love snow, it's a shame Pisa is at such a low altitude and so close to the sea (not to mention the amount of smog) that snow is a rarity. Or maybe it's a bless, considering that drivers do their best when snow falls, and under normal cirumstances we should already take back the pedestrian license to 90% of Italians ... Got some frost last night but I'm still waiting for true snow. It'll be any day now until I am snowed in completely, always a huge blizzard every year. |

I like snow. Kinda miss actually lying down shirtless in it to win some stupid bets, in fact. (I might also be somewhat inebriated tonight so please bear with me) |

I got a relatively functional version of the game on my computer after a few days of fumbling! I uninstalled it in 2014 since I wasn't feeling it anymore, and realized a few months later I couldn't install anything but the original afterwards - the expansions were being registered as already installed when they weren't. Finally yesterday I realized this was because I had inadvertently copied several startup and install files when backing up downloads. After deleting those, finally, Endangered Species installed properly... but then none of the others would work, because of a new issue: they relied on the InstallShield wizard, which was apparently corrupted. So I had every disc, and none would work. I tried to find an alternative installer program, and none were compatible. I finally managed to circumvent that issue by finding a no-disc-needed version online, which was supposed to be Ultimate Collection, and I thought would be nice and convenient. The files were all accessible in a folder so I found I could manually install it without using a program - success! - buuuuut I realized in the process it wasn't quite the complete collection. It had no Marine Mania, though it had some aspects of the programming. So hitting the tank walls or show button was an instant crash. It also came with a ton of downloads, some of the nice ones like Artiodactyla (which I had already) but mostly a lot of very early recolors and not very good ones, which I had to delete one by one from between game coding files, because it was all mixed. But I got it working, and this veritable mess of the game is working with building sets and downloads as long as I don't click the absent Marine Mania aspects and remove any downloads that were based in Marine Mania animations, though I am still getting some issues with a lack of detail in flora and objects which doesn't change even at maximum graphics. If I can make something pretty despite these handicaps I'll post a show and tell! I am really out of the loop on current modding. I went to the Aurora Designs site and downloaded the UI and most of the non-MM animals, I tried to get the full complete package download but it didn't show up in game, because I probably have conflicting files already in the folder which I couldn't find. I also downloaded some of Sophie's recent building sets and her grassland biome remake, since I was afraid using the AD ones without marine mania would cause issues. Is there anything really good put out since 2014 I'm missing? |

It still has everything I would generally use in the game - I'm not much of a marine park person, though the tank aspects were sometimes useful for other building applications and underwater viewing for bears and hippos and things like that. I just have to be very careful not to accidentally hit the tanks section when I mean to hit elevated paths. |

I mean, as long as you have an optical drive for the CDs, you should be fine. It's a game from 2004, it should be a walk in the cake for any modern computer. EDIT: Amount of RAM doesn't really matter quite so much for gaming. 8GB is recommended for most games nowadays, but you can get away with 4 pretty easily, as long as it's nothing too intensive. It's the CPU/GPU that need to be a bit beefy, but again, for ZT2 you should be good with anything made nowadays. Edited by Viggen, Nov 9 2017, 11:17 PM.
