It wasn't really the paleontology-related inaccuracies that bothered me, but rather the truly glaring issues such as advanced civilizations and relatively modern technology existing in the late Pleistocene.

Yeah, but Smilodons never got that big in real life, nor were they ever native to Africa. In real life the genus was lion-sized and was native only to the Americas. It was still a nice depiction in terms of visual appearance, however.

Yeah and the terror birds weren't either native to Africa. I first thought it was set in North/ South america.

The only animals that weren't out of place were the woolly mammoths, but even they had the issue of being nearly indricothere-sized.

Also, I'm pretty sure terror birds were extinct by 10,000 BC but I could be wrong about that.
