He doesn't want to live in Detroit because it's a sh-thole, mostly. This area is nice, but it's surrounded by bad neighborhoods and abandoned neighborhoods...

It's just so pretty, though. Anywhere out in the suburbs, this would be a $500,000 to $700,000 home... the reason it's cheap is because it's within Detroit city limits.

We've been pre-approved for a hefty home loan (many more times the value of this house), so even if we only borrowed half of our pre-approval, we could gut the entire inside and renovate however we wanted (not that we would, but I'd update the kitchens, the bathrooms, and install or restore hardwood throughout). We want his Dad to move in with us when we get a house because his living situation is just not acceptable, and this house has a self-contained suite, where he'd have his own kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, etc.

It's just the location that sucks. Everything else is pretty much perfect.

have you priced how much it would be to dig up that sweet crib and have the entire thing moved? Seriously though that house is sweet. I get where your BF is coming from though...

In other news, I'm starting college in 2 weeks xD

Hence why we are moving from Canada down to Ohio in the USA.
Cheaper grocery's..lower taxes ... and frig en awesome affordable houses!!!!

We are currently looking real hard at a house in Dayton that is $100,000. It has a huge horse barn built in 2010, a 5 BR/3 Bth home built in 2011 and is sitting on 35 acres. Perfect for doing horse boarding, growing crops and setting up my kennels :D

Mystery solved!

Stupidity is thee name - at least for my husband. I have noticed the dishes have been coming out of the dishwasher not as clean as they should be. They have also had this awful sticky residue on them. Well it turns out last week my hubby grabbed a new pack of dish washing cleaning tablets - not our normal brand as they were out of Finish. I finally went to check on package tonight to figure out which brand he grabbed as they are doing an awful job...... it turns out he grabbed laundry soap tablets not dish washing tablets xD
The monkey has been washing our dishes with laundry soap lol!

I live in an apartment and it costed us the equivalent of something like $700.000. A house like this one would be worth around 7 millions here.

An apartment here to rent is around 1100 a month (That is for a crappy nothing included 2br). To buy that house would be around 12 million dollars. *COUGH* not worth buying or renting here unless you are a doctor or want to pay a mortgage till you are around 85 ...

Lol my old three-pieces apartment in Monte Carlo (shitty apartment) was around $4500 a month. Welcome to Monaco. I now live in France, at thirty meters from the Monegasque border, so you can buy a house for approximately 1/10th of the Monegasque price.
