Here you can work as sixteen but there's almost zero chance of it happening because you have to be overpaid and aren't allowed over thirty hours a week or something.

Currently playing Civ 5, after shooting my way through Elizabeth, Nebuchadnezzar II, Ramkhamhaeng, Augustus Caesar, Haile Selassie and Isabella, I just have to conquer Mumbai to manage domination victory, which is the best defended city on the entire map. Of course, I had to be playing as Attila the Hun, and Gandhi had to hate me since the beginning of the game. Thankfully (Thank you whatever-the-name-for-the-religion-I-created-is) he hasn't got the nukes yet.

Here you can start working at 16 - BUT they don't pay you normally. Till you have worked a certain amount of hours, they are allowed to pay you below min. wage. Bunch of a politician doo doo if you ask me. Poor kids.

Sore today - get this baby out! She is sitting on my poor bladder and it feels awful. Just making lunch and relaxing online. We had a HUGE storm here last night so I am checking out the news.

It's the other way around here. They have to pay us minimum wages (around €7, so that's about 9 USD), but since we don't have to pay taxes ('no' taxes = 0,5-1% of our income) we get almost double of what adults on minimum wage earn.

In the US, during either the 1800s or early 1800s (I'm pulling this from my memory of 6th grade US history, so I'm not sure which.) there was a big problem with child labor. Many children (some around the age of like 8 IIRC) were leaving school to support their families. The jobs, however, were horrible. Most worked in coal mines and factory sweatshops where the conditions were often horrible, some even leading to death. They were also grossly underpaid. Hence the child labor laws that prevented minors under a certain age to have jobs for their own well being.
It was during the Industrial Revolution, so early 1900's too. I think Britain had the same problem in some of the larger cities [Citation needed] Also it was just some that lead to death, it was pretty much all the available jobs. People lost fingers, even limbs, to simple sewing machines in factories.

I'd say everyone is scared of fighting him xD People also tend to feel bad after defeating him. Defeating Napoleon, for example, holds immense prestige. Defeating Gandhi makes you seem like an awful bastard.

Sorry but defeating Ghandi is fun. Especially with a nuke. It gives him a taste of his own medicine, as the saying goes.

Playing a new game on Civ V, with Denmark. Attempting cultural victory xD It's awesome because we're all involved in an alliance game that can both create an everlasting peace or start a full-scale world war. The only people left out of it are Gengis Khan (I originally wanted to ally with him) who's gonna be destroyed in five minutes after Ramsesses II, Gustavus Adolphus (GOTT MIT UNS), Bismarck (who's something like half a world away) and Oda Nobunaga, as well as a ton of city-states, declared war on him, and Napoleon, who hates everyone. I don't want to attack him because he has the strongest army for the moment.
