No offence, but that sounds rather ungrateful. Just complaining about lack of texture without even mentioning any of the positive traits of the model is something I don't think many designers like to hear. |

Thank you, guys. Alex: If you don't take your time to read the text above my picture, you shouldn't post any comments. Usually there is something written in there that is something important or at least something I think you should know, otherwise I wouldn't have put it there. I planned to release the Pterorhynchus for quite a while, but none of the two testers have send me their thumbs up yet. For the last while I have been ( slowly ) making a new animal. No one will know about it, that's something I'm sure about ( I didn't know this ichthyosaur myself before stumbling over a DA picture of it on Monday ), so I'll explain it. It is an Early Cretaceous species whose closest relative is in fact Ichtyhosaurus and that means it is part of a lineage of ichthyosaurs that were thought to have gone extinct during the Jurassic. It was found this year in Iraq. I based the colours on my favourite colour scheme of ichthyosaurs ( Here ), but decided to slightly adapt the pattern. Yes, I added the texture. Dolphin texture: bare skin without wrinkles: fantastic visibility ! It could be worse, though. ![]() I leave it to you if you want it or not since I only made it to train my skinning and to work with MrGorsh's tutorial. However do you know any format of picture openable in gimp, able to save layers and displayable in nifskope ? Anyway, I can't wait for your comments

I don't think so, sorry I generally use photoshop and save both as TGA and PSD (in your case, XCF).The animal is awesome, tough I recommend making it somewhat shiny. |

Great model, I must say, Philly! I think you need more practice at skin about texture and reflection. But since dolphin skin is hard to make(?) I think this is still great start. |

Hm... Maybe you can use a light overlay of sandpaper? It works pretty well for sea animals, actually. ![]() Aside from that, the skin looks pretty good! And the color scheme is great! Good work, philly!

Thank you, sorry to hear about that, merging together all those layers is terribly annoying. I have set my eye on the next animal already: what textures would you suggest for a sauropod ? |

I suggest a bit of elephant wrinkles for where the leg connects to the body, and a bit of indian rhino "bumps" sprinkled here and there. As a main texture, I would use leather.

Thank you. There were no updates during the last bit of time since I was sick, but as I am now getting better I might be able to do some more things. First of all I plan to release the Malawania as soon as possible, I just had no time to code it. Secondly the Pterorhynchus is now theoretically finished and ready to be released, but I got Witton's new book. It says Pterorhynchus's tail was 3.5 the body length, so I will have to fix that. Again I didn't have the time or muse to do it. Thirdly my new book gave me something I really needed: inspiration: ![]() Istiodactylus is for me the archetypical pterosaur and one of my favourite ones as well. What could be more awesome than a "duck-billed pterosaur" that behaves like an overgrown vulture ? Because of that I think any Jurassic Park would like to have one and that means I had to make one. Back on the designing aspect. the animal is almost finished, just some ingame tweaks ( advanced behaviours ) to do. I hope you like the skin, I am rather fond of it. The colours are based on a vulture and a random red tone. The texture ( I put a part of it in the lower edge, maybe you can see, that it exists, there ) is mainly hamster, dugong, bat and bird. I hope you like it and can't wait for your comments. Though I will mostly stay in the pterosaur group for some while, the next animal I planned is no pterosaur, but a dinosaur ( no, it is not the Europasaurus I originally planned to make ). I hope I will be able to make it and nothing unexpected happens for some while. |

Dat Istiodactylus! It is awesome! BTW I'm probably the last pterosaur fan on Earth not to have Witton's book. |
