I've never eaten rabbit myself but I'm certain that you can buy it or eat it here. We do have a lot of wild rabbits living around the country regions of Australia.

Italians love so much eating rabbit that some people pick them up when they kill them with their car ...

and i'm pretty sure Australians eat some local fish, like the Barramundi (ever tried that Danny ?)

No not native fauna as far as I'm aware... Except some Indigenous Australians who still live in tribes and stuff do still hunt some animals for food I believe. Otherwise, it's mostly all illegal. Introduced species like foxes and deer are hunted though :)

@Meerkatmatt... That's awesome! Which part of Australia are you from? I'm from Melbourne myself :P
I kind of cannot tell but its north of you ,( not much south of Melbourne besides Tasmania !)
also people do hunt kangaroos in Australia for meat and leather, In Victoria some people to have a quota on how many animals they can cull, animals like black swans, wombat, emus and Fur seals. :'(

Myths and Truths About Australia #4

The Weird and Wonderful Wildlife
#1

KANGAROOS:

One of the most well-known, if not THE most well-known, Australian animals is the kangaroo. Kangaroos have huge feet, long tails and large ears. They hop on their back legs and females have pouches for their young. They are found throughout Australia - in forests, in the desert, in streets, in backyards, sitting on top of barbecues... And even raiding fridges. Well... Not quite...

One myth that I have heard many foreigners, specifically Americans, believe is that kangaroos are literally everywhere and, while they are common, that is almost completely false. I have NEVER seen a wild kangaroo near where I live. In fact, probably the nearest kangaroo that I have seen was at a zoo about forty minutes away. While kangaroos are occasionally farmed, I have never met anyone or heard of anyone that keeps them as pets. Of course, there probably is someone - but there are people who keep all sorts of bizarre animals. Oh and for the record, I have not yet ridden a kangaroo to school but I plan on it some day! :D

Okay, so what's the truth about this myth? Well... If you were to visit a city area like Melbourne or Sydney expecting to see kangaroos hopping down the streets, you are only asking to be disappointed. BUT in more rural Australia, this idea is not so ridiculous. When I visited Halls Gap, kangaroos PLAGUED the area. One footy oval probably had about 50 kangaroos on it (surrounded by tourists taking pictures). There were kangaroos near people's homes and picnic areas and there was probably a kangaroo every twenty metres or so. In fact, kangaroos are so common in rural areas, that there are a lot of kangaroos that are unfortunately killed by trucks and cars.

You can find a lot of wild kangaroos in other rural parts of Australia too. They tend to like forested areas as they cool off in the forests during the heat at midday and only really come out into the open at evening and in the mornings. My advice - if you're coming to Australia and you want to see a lot of native wildlife, then don't go to one of our "big cities". Don't go to the desert, either. You'll probably hate it just like the kangaroos do. Try somewhere a couple hours from Melbourne perhaps. That's where I've seen koalas, emus, kangaroos, wallabies, birds and everything :)

well, expecting to find a kangaroo (or any large mammal) in a big city sounds a bit exagerated, no matter how much wildlife the country has. i believe the largest thing we get in our urban areas are foxes and porcupines, although in some areas boars come to the city at night.

Danny since Susan left the community have you talked more, less, or the same?

What have you been thinking the most about lately?

Sir Emmott Lawson just proposed to Victoria Chase during being arrested for Tax Fraud. Would that have any effect on your answer if you were Victoria Chase?

1. Danny since Susan left the community have you talked more, less, or the same?
Well actually I don't think it's changed much at all - At least not BECAUSE she's left the community. Since it's basically been holidays for me, we've been able to chat more but then again, we've had internet problems so it's been about the same. We never really chatted on this site but rather instant messaging so it hasn't been a problem :)

2. What have you been thinking about the most lately?
The usual - Susan, my future and animals :D My brother also just got back from a three week trip in America so I guess I thought about that today as well :')

3. Sir Emmott Lawson just proposed to Victoria Chase during being arrested for Tax Fraud. Would that have any effect on your answer if you were Victoria Chase?
I don't quite get what you are trying to ask but I assume you're basically saying that if I was a woman and the man who I loved and was going to marry was being arrested for tax fraud when they proposed, would I still say yes or would I change my mind and no longer wish to marry? Well... I mean if Susan got in trouble with the law I don't think that would change my love for her. :) So no, I don't think it would effect my anwer... Although it might damage some trust.

4. What would happen if you met Nicolas Cage?
I would say, "Hey look!! It's Nicolas Cage!" And then I'd print out several copies of the "You Don't Say" meme and get him to personally sign them all... And then I'd sell them on eBay for $50 each :D I'd also have a picture taken with him just for the memory. :D And then I'd give him a cookie.
