Rap music? Well, I personally hate it. But I can understand why some like it: it expresses emotions and feelings in a different way then usual. It's unique. Rap is a unique way of expressing how you feel without any boundaries. Which means you don't have to be careful on what you say, you can be real.

An Alternate History brought to you by Whirl, AKA Whirlysaur or "Twirl-a-Whirl"

So recently, I kinda got bored with NeoTerra. Now don't worry, that did not last. However, while I busy taking a little "break", I began to wonder about things. I started to look at the news more, and really got into the events of today. And so I thought- why are some of these events there? Especially when they're completely ludicrous and very bad? Why in the world did North Korea get to war with South Korea, eventually splitting them up and causing the problems NK has now? That led me to look into history a bit. And slowly but surely, an idea crept into my mind. I started surfing the web with alternative histories. Eventually, I found one that really intrigued me. I took it to heart. And what was it about? It was going back to a time thousands of years ago, coming up with a radical idea, a radical plot, that completely changed the course of human history. So then I thought "Hmm... I want to do something like that myself!" Why? Well, because I'm really fed up with how our history turned out. I really do wish it was different. So here we are- I'm posting the first update to an alternate history, dating back 11,000 years ago, at the end of the last Ice Age. Humans have migrated across Africa, to India, Oceania, Asia, and Europe- and they're on their way to the Americas. Just like normal history. But now, I'm putting a twist to it...

Sweden, Coast of the Baltic Sea, circa 11,000 BCE...

Thunder flashed. Violently. Waves crashed upon the shore. It was a dark, cloudy, stormy night. His tribe had traveled far, away from the warring ways of others. They had become sick of the pointless conflict- it was time to begin anew. As chief of his people, it was time to make a choice. They had come a very long way, searching for some place peaceful to call home. It seemed as good a place as any, where they were now. But he wasn't searching for such a violent area- he wanted somewhere tranquil. Somewhere he and his tribe could settle down and build families, start anew. Wind seemed to billow with anger, sweeping his tattered fur coat to the side. It was bitterly cold, and his scalp itched- painfully. But his tribe... he led them forward, and trudged on through the hardship. Hours passed. It was still stormy, and his ears ached from the crashing sound of the sky opening up and throwing down daggers of angry sound towards the Earth. But he kept courage- his will was iron, archaic, and primal instinct told him to not give up. And he didn't. The long procession of freezing natives came to a small rise. They hiked up it, only to look down upon a small valley. It was lush with pink flowers, evergreen trees, and grassy hills. A small lake was at the northern end, and a river ran into it. At once, the leader knew- this was what he had been searching for. At long last... a home. It seemed almost magical. The clouds cleared, the thundering ceased, and the waves stopped crashing against the sea cliffs that lay a few miles west. He turned to his hopeful followers, shivering in the cold that still persisted. With a smile rusty from old age, he lifted his hands high in the air, and proclaimed with a loud bellow "We are here. We have found a... HOME!" With finality, thunder boomed for the last time, before the heavens shined down upon them. This... this was it. They had, at long last, found a place to settle. A home.

Introduction to the Yurglantan Culture

The Yurglantan Culture originated in this alternate history around 11,000 years ago, coming from a fractured off tribe of the Ahrensburg culture, a group of primitive hunter/gatherers from northern Denmark and Germany. War took over their former homeland, and in search of a place to settle, a tribal chieftain named Yurglan- as the culture is named after- led a group of close to five hundred war-beaten Ahrensburgs along the coast of the Baltic Sea, north and around the Gulf of Bothnia, to Sweden, where they settled. This cultures first settlement was located in the Asdorg Valley, a small stripe of fertile land in southwestern Scandinavia. A map below shows the extent of the Yurglantan and Ahrensburg cultures, in green and blue respectively, in 11,000 BCE- shortly after settlement of Sweden.

At c. 10,900 BCE, the Yurglantan culture had settled a small portion of Swedens western coast, and had developed into a thriving society based on hunting, gathering, and fishing. They used tools that were advanced for the time- sticks with sharpened ends speared worms and were used for fishing. The stick was thin, and when the fish jumped out to grab the worm, it impaled itself on the "rod". This technique was relatively mediocre, and worked only around half the time. Nonetheless, tribes sprouted up based on fishing along the coast. Over time, hunting became an important part of the Yurglantan society, and gathering soon came into play as well. The Ahrensburg culture eventually faded into mist, caught up in war and unable to survive. Yurglantans, however, thrived. And in 10,874 BCE, after, the death of one tribes' chieftain, a new ruler named Mikheran ascended. This ruler had supreme control over the largest Yurglantan tribe, and his intelligence- along with luck and the skill of his followers- brought the primitive world roaring into a new age.

Next: More insight into the Yurglantan Culture, and information on Mikheran..

So for a quick little introduction, what do you all think? Comments? Questions? Criticism? This is my first such project, so I know things might be a little inaccurate at points- if you can see anything wrong, point that out. :fish:

I like it, a lot.

I'm very interested to read further into their history as this project progresses!

Perhaps they could end up domesticating some different animals than we did as well?

Wow, that looks really interesting. I've loved history for more than 5 years, and I love creating different histories and backgrounds to civilizations. Although, I haven't tried creating alternate histories like you have. It's great so far. :D
