We have had a number of contests this last month. The Caption This contest and the Unusual Combinations contest are now being voted on while March's Graphic Contest and the Make Your Own Emoticon contests are still running. We also have a new contest, "Creature Creation". For this, members must design or draw an image of their own imaginary creature and write about it. The three winners will have their animals made into silhouettes and added to their zoos! Head on over to the contest section to take a look.

Posted ImageInterviewed by: Okeanos Saviour

Each month we will be doing a spotlight on talent for a member we feel deserves it. We would like to congratulate this month's talent, MakiCatta

Q: Tell us about yourself!

A: My name is Tim, and I come from Lyon, in France. I'm 14 years old, and my hobbie are: gymnastics, my friends, partying, drawing, and ZT2.
I'm in 1ère (I don't know which class it corresponds...).

Q: How long have you been designing zoos/projects?

A: I've been playing zt2 for 5 or 6 years I think ... And I discovered that there were downloads something like 2 or 3 years ago. Then I practised a bit, on my dad's computer, so I couldn't play very often ... But last Christmas I got my own laptop so I became active on forums and started to show my zoos. My first zoo was Rio Grande Amazon Zoo in January of 2013.
Then I discovered Danny's tutorial to make signs, and I started to make some, two weeks ago.

Q: Who is your biggest inspiration?

A: My first good inspiration was Uolym, I inspired myself a lot of his zoos ... Then I discoverd Chach's zoos and I loved it. He became sort of my zoo building idol :p Now I think my biggest inspiration is combination of many people

Q: What designs/zoo exhibits/zoos can we expect from you soon?

A: I'm now working on an asian animals signs pack, which will contain something like 10 or 15 animals

Then, for my zoos, I'm still showing Bioparc Libreville - Afrika which is actually a part of Bioparc Libreville, a park I'll show just after. Then, I've already planned to make a second map for Santiago Andean Zoo.

Marathon I: CONTINENTS
As you already know, the staff are working on something big: Marathon I: CONTINENTS. You probably have no idea what it is but we're all sure that if you get involved you will have a lot of fun! It should be coming up within the next week though we don't know (refuse to tell you) when exactly.

Staff Changes
We would also like to welcome both Imp and Hudson to the position of Download Manager! Our thanks goes to everyone who voted in the poll! I'm sure they will both do an excellent job as staff!

Pointies
We're planning on making more silhouettes soon. Especially some smaller ones like dogs, rabbits, lizards, cats and birds that can be given as gifts! We also plan on making more game animals such as deer, bears and boars. We also plan on adding licence levels which are required for members to purchase certain species. If you have any ideas for what we could add to make the Pointies System better, don't be afraid to ask!

ZT2 Section
A poll went out not long ago about having a ZT2 section. It seems that most members are for it so it is quite likely that we will see some changes, possibly in the next week!

Contests
More and more contests will be added to the site so keep posting your ideas and suggestions! We are loving what we're hearing so expect to see some ideas becoming reality soon!

I believe that's it from the staff... Have fun and enjoy the rest of the newsletter!

Zoo Tycoon 2 Animal Guidelines

Fencing: The Maned Wolfs aren't very powerful animals, they can be contained by chain link fences, concrete fences or even wooden fences.

Privacy: The Maned Wolfs don't like the human company and can be very easily stressed. Be sure they have his privacy and, preferentially, a large enclosure with parts for hide of the guests.

Diet: Despite it's part of Carnivora order, the Maned Wolf is known to have a varied diet. In captivity, it eats fruits like melons, papayas and other fruits, but is important give them meat too, since still are carnivores.

Exhibit Foliage: These animals lives in plains of the Cerrado, so they don't need so much foliage. Some bushes and savanna trees can be a good choice, palms also are good.

ZT2 & Forum Related:
Questions:
1. Who do you look up to the most in the community?
2. What's your favourite aspect of this community?
3. What is your favourite download?

Umpaloompa:
1. Fireplume. No doubt about that. The guy's my best pal here, and nobody can inspire me more than him.
2. There's a lot to like about the community. I think what I like the most though is getting to know some of the newer members that are bound to stay. I mean, the ones that aren't ghost members, you know? I think my two biggest examples of that are Hudson and Rafael.
3. I use a lot of downloads, but if I had to mention the one I'd miss the most if it was gone it would be the Guioa... I've used it in most of my zoos.

Rafael:
1. Hard question, I think that every person in the community has his importance. I simply can't choice just one person.
2. The fact that, even that sites fell, ZT2 ended, and many other things like that happened, we're still here, don't leaving the memory of the game (and several other good memories of the community) fall into oblivion.
3. European Expeditions

Thomas:
1. I think that will be Raymondhoek/Krokit.
2. The respect that everyone has for the other ones, and it is awesome to talk about something you like with people who like it to.
3. The Christmas pack of JH, I use it in every single enclosure.

Jesse:
1. I think Danny. He helps me very much!
2. The S&T section. I love to see what other people make and I get my inspiration from other zoos.
3. WWDU foliage pack, it's a nice pack with great foliage.

Niels:
1. I'm not sure if I understand this question right. Do you know who is my best friend?
2. I would surely go for the amazing atmosphere in the community.
3. The building packs from Sophie, I just use them in every zoo, they are just indispensable.

Personal:
Questions:
1. What can you see if you look through the nearbiest window?
2. What would you do if you won a million dollars/euros?
3. Is your room clean or messy?

Umpaloompa:
1. I can see more windows that belong to other buildings...
2. There's a lot I'd do. First I'd love to have an apartment in Paris. I think it's one of the most fantastic places to be. I'd probably buy a new apartment here in Rio as well. I'd love to have a Savannah Cat, so that's a definite must. I'd donate a bit to charities and NGOs, taking those which help with education into account most. I'd love to help my parents pay for university as well... The rest I'd probably just stick in a Swiss Bank Account.
3. Depends on how I'm feeling...

Rafael:
1. A Acerola tree in my yard.
2. That's another hard question. I'd probably help my parents to we moved house, and later I'd use the left to travel the world.
3. Totally messy and cluttered.

Thomas:
0. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would go to Australia, my father has been there and he says it is awesome.
1. I can see a neighbourhood and a playing ground.
2. I would save up, and then buy a farm and keep many animals.
3. It's clean

Jesse:
1. My garden and my rabbit pen
2. I would like to buy a diamond iPad.
3. Clean. But messy tomorrow.

Niels:
1. Haha, I see a park.
2. Hmm, I guess I'll spend some money on a charities. And some other money I would just put on the bank I think.
3. A combination of clean and messy. It is not really clean, but messy? No.

Animal Related:
Questions:
1. What's your least favorite animal?
2. Do you have any pets? What are they?
3. If you could save one animal from having gone extinct, which would you choose?

Umpaloompa:
1. My least favourite animal?! That's an interesting question... Mosquitos for sure, though.
2. Yes, I have a beautiful Shih-Tzu named Karina.
3. Steller's Sea Cow. It's chunky. It swims. It's Russian. It's chunky.

Rafael:
1. My least favorite animal? Hum... mosquitoes.
2. A dog, more specifically a cute Shih-Tzu.
3. Dodo! They're awesome.

Thomas:
1. I kind of hate insects
2. No, but I'm asking my parents 10.000 times a day to buy a pet.
3. I would choose the mammoth

Jesse:
1. I don't know. I think any bug like wasps.
2. 1 dog (Rex), 2 rabbits (Snuf and Smer), 1 gold fish (Blub) and 1 hamster (Speedy). One time my hamster escaped. It took half an hour before I had caught him.
3. A mammoth because they're are beautiful and magnificent creatures

Niels:
1. Euhm, I guess that would be annoying insects; gnats for example. (Don't know if gnat is a good word??)
2. No, I don't have any pets atm. I had some fishes. But that was a long time ago.
3. I think that would be the dodo. I really like them.
