I collect a lot of things, but my longest running collections are bottles (usually alcohol, but I also collect antique or antique-looking perfume bottles), and books. I just dropped about $50 last weekend on old books at a crazy book store in Ann Arbor that reminded me of my Grandma's house. I got the collected works of Jane Austen (the only "romance" novels I can stomach and actually enjoy, minus Charlotte Bronte's work), a collection of Plutarch's sonnets, a 1950s edition of Little Women, and a 1950s edition of Don Quixote. I'd like to go back for a book of Confucian philosophy and do some digging for The Divine Comedy. I've always wanted a vintage copy... Unfortunately, they've all been stacked under my nightstand, as my bookcase is currently occupied by the boyfriend's collectibles and some knick-knacks we've acquired over the years and have no where else to put. Need a proper office/library. Grrr. |

I also collect souvenirs from travelling around, nothing serious there tho just some of the weirdest ones i can find =D And i'm thinking to start collection of old mirros/makeup boxes. Only a few years. I don't have very many but I do have the San Francisco Zoo, Denver Zoo, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and The Hogle Zoo. My funniest story with them is I had just bought the Hogle Zoo one. I was 11. My mom said "hold on to that so you don't drop it" And I dropped it the minute that it came off the checkout counter. Luckily the zoo replaced it. |

I used to have a lot of feathers. Most got misplaced, badly damaged, or lost. And of course there's the Migratory Birds Act. Right now I collect knives and have also found myself with a large array of indoor plants in the past few years. |

just a few hours ago I got a package, Safari Ltd. Tokay Gecko and Gila Monster! I've wanted this gecko since I was a little girl and I saw them used in a museum display, and it feels great to finally have one in my hands ![]() they really do go nicely with their AAA counterparts! (monitor is by AAA) ![]() ![]() they really do have a lot of detail to them, I just love cast figurines! its not that I have anything against sculpted figurines (heaven forbid!) but there's just something about cast pieces that I love, I guess it could be that I've always had a fondness for museums and these really do feel like mounted specimens ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() sadly it seems not everyone is as enthused as I am with the new additions: ![]() ![]() ![]() not so proud of this one, I had a weaker moment and gave in to temptation when I spotted this Carnegie miragaia bootleg at the dollarama yesterday the line also had a Carnegie brachiosaurus and Schleich tyrannosaurus, giganotosaurus and triceratops giganotosaurus was labelled allosaurus, miragaia as spinosaurus, and brachiosaurus as tanystropheus ![]() I'm hoping it will look nice repainted, gives me something to work on over the holidays he-he ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I didn't even know there was a Miragaia bootleg. But even for a dollar-store bootleg it doesn't look THAT bad compared to others ![]() As for what I collect, well there's a lot of things. Pokemon figures and cards, Transformers, Evangelion merchandise, manga, CDs, music, etc. But probably my most prized collection is my dinosaur figure one, that started waaay back in my younger years. And here it is: Spoiler: click to toggle A wide variety of figures, including Safari Ltd., Carnegie, Collecta, Bullyland, Papo, Schleich, and Battat. I have quite a few more in boxes that are either too small or too big to fit. Next January I'm going to have them taken down and reorganized on larger shelves. Oh and here's my growing Pokemon figure collection too. Not as organized as I wish it was, but not being at home most of the time there's not much I can do about it: Spoiler: click to toggle After Xmas I'll probably show off my gifts and expanded collections, including my Revoltech Evangelions and some new Pokemon figures I asked for, maybe my boxes of Transformers as well. |
