Everyone else had one, so I said to myself "why not?" So, yeah, ask questions and do whatchamacallit here. (please don't swear. Thank you.)

@Nomis: Besides Canada? New Zealand or maybe South Africa. @CRG: Besides my hometown I'd want to live somewhere on Vancouver Island or Haida Gwaii. Outside of Canada I'd pick Johannesburg, South Africa, Coober Pedy, Australia, or maybe some place in New Guinea. |

Drumheller, Alberta and Victoria, British Columbia. I HIGHLY recommend going to these places, especially if you like dinosaurs or sea life. In Victoria we saw a megapod of 80 killer whales, and a few of them came within 30 feet of the boat. |

That sounds very, very neat. I'd love to see orcas in the wild. Seeing captive ones only makes me a bit depressed. |

I have never seen captive ones. Orcas are, in fact, the only cetaceans I have ever seen in the wild, out of the three species I have seen. Also, while I was in Victoria, we got some fish from a harbor cafe place thing and fed this old harbor seal right out of our hands. We would dangle long strips of fish out of the water and he would come up and eat them. He was blind in one eye, so it made sense. I also saw his mate and cub, but they were far under the water so I didn't get a good look. |

That sounds even cooler - feeding wild seals. How neat is that. I've never seen captive orcas either, but I still don't like the way they're usually kept. I consider most of the pools they house them in very inadequate. |

Eh, there were about ten kids there stuffing him with crab and fish meat, so he wasn't exactly poor. I try not to read captive animal stories if I can help it, Sheather- Ever since Firefan posted a story about PETA in the Gaia spam forum I've been positively sick about reading that kind of thing. |

I read that as well. It was very sad. However, that doesn't stop me from reading those sorts of things. I like to know as much information on everything as I can, even about the unpleasant aspects of the world.

Ignorance is bliss, as they do say. Probably not a good idea in the long run, but it makes sure I don't get nightmares. |

Ignorance is bliss. Indeed. But I do not agree with that mindset. Ignorance is never a good thing. |

Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. But I've always been so compelled to find knowledge I've never really bothered to purposely do anything contribute to my "ignorance". I guess it's kinda how I have always defined myself; someone who wishes to find out everything about the universe (am I Faust? 0.0). That may be why I'm such a disturbed person today. XP Either way, that's really cool with the Orcas. I'd love to see wild Orcas. Back in Virginia, I saw some wild Dolphin-ey... things... but I never was able to identify their species, nor did anything but their dorsal find ever become visible. |

I also get sick by a lot of animals in captivity stories however the worst ones IMO base around zoos 100 years ago keeping native american tribes, and jungle tribes in captivity. The fact that even a lot of the educated zoologists we love today and respect so much supported it back then. |

British Columbia. I've only been to two provinces, but I'm fairly certain that the coastal rainforests are the most beautiful place in Canada. I would not want to live anywhere else. |
