This will be the place for my endless rants about life, love and what not. If there are any serious questions regarding these issues, I'd be more than happy to answer them. ~Amur |

Chapter One Religion - Part One My parents were quite religious, they used to go to church every sunday and they read the Bible. I thought religion was a naive thing whatsoever, I respected it but I couldn't see how someone was able to believe in something written in an ancient book, which could be the Thora, Qu'ran or the Bible. They were all written by people ages ago, who needed an explanation for how the world worked, so they used Gods. I would have believed it all if these days were the Dark Ages, but I just can't. There has come a replacement for all of these explanations called science, they don't speculate but have proof. Of course my parents didn't like it when I told them this, but they accepted it. They even bought me a book about Evolution I wanted last Christmas. I still love them, however it's hard to imagine how they think. (I do respect religion, don't take me wrong). |

Well I can understand that viewpoint. If I may, I'd like to answer it from a Christian Perspective. (And If this is offensive or argumentive, I'll delete it. Just ask.) I can't speak for all religions, as I don't know them well enough to do so, but I can say for Christianity (particularly my branch of it). Like I said, I can understand that view easily. Why listen to a book thousands of years old? The thing that should be understood is that there is more to Christianity than just the Bible. At least in my branch of Christianity, it's more about a relationship with God. (Not trying to convert; just trying to clarify.) I doubt anyone could make themselves believe something simply because a book says so. We have complex minds who like to reason and have evidence. I want to address the misconception that religion is just some Dark Ages thing that does not change. Thankfully, it's not. When people hear Christianity, I know a popular image is dressed in suits and such to sing old hyms in an ancient church building. I guess that could describe the Baptist Christians, but it isn't quite like that at my church. I guess my view is that Christianity is unique to everyone, because not everyone is the same. Not everyone likes the same old songs or dressing up fancy just to go to a building. Who would want to believe in a God that requires that? So I guess my point simply is that it's not just the "dos" and "do nots" of a book, but something more, but I don't think it can be fully understood unless experienced. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's not much of a loss if I am. So that's just my view. I respect yours.

I'm an atheist myself, so i agree with you 100% Amur, but in my case my parents aren't religious either (my mum is an atheist too and my dad is agnostic), so i grow up i a secular home. My mum went to a catholic school during childhood and adolescence though so she knows about religion and i learned from her. But to be honest, the more i learn about the Bible (i even read some parts of the Bible myself) the more contradictions i find in it. So yeah i trust science, and think everything has a rational explanation and that nature (and natural laws) is more impressive than anything else.

I don't feel like using the old layout because bluh tired, but I find it time for stuff I don't like about religion at all, mainly the attitude against homosexuality. It's one of the most disgusting things to be against gay marriage, I can't imagine how someone could be, if two people love each other let them be, it's a natural thing. Now the average Christian will come up with his/her reasons to say that it still isn't right to be gay, well I don't think it's right to think so. I will continue this later on. |

I agree with that, but not all religious people are against homosexuality. But i completly understand what you are saying because i think just like you. They love each other, they want to married to adquiere the benefits of a civil union between two people, so let them do it! I think religion has no word in things related with politics, civil rights and science. |
