Why you putting down rats man? They're far smarter and friendlier than your average chihuahua. ![]() I have three dogs: Tyson is a 100 pound black and white ( spotted with big blotches like a cow) German shepherd x akita x labrador x rottweiler mix, who is nine years old. He's also enormous and howls like a wolf (though he sounds more like a bear) whenever he hears an ambulance, police car, or even an ice cream truck. Reesie is a chocolate lab, or possibly a lab mix, and she's four or five years old. She likes killing baby rabbits, and birds, and once even an adult muskrat (I don't know how it got into our fenced-in yard...). She didn't use to howl, but recently has begun to attempt it when Tyson does. She's really, really bad at it (she just sort of whines really loud) and it sounds like she's being run over by a dump truck.... She's also terrified of thunderstorms. More than either of the other dogs, she loves to be outside, but hates to pee outside if the ground is wet and will end up coming in and peeing in the hallway instead. Because that's so much fun for us. Holly is a seven year old shepherd x terrier x basenji mix. She's gold in color and incredibly fat, and thus she's very lazy. So lazy, in fact, she eats laying down. She also likes chasing baby rabbits (and birds, squirrels, etc), but she doesn't kill them. She just carries them around very gently until they manage to escape or are rescued. |

Chihuahas are among the most intelligent dog breeds. My dog, Crikette, is love incarnated. She just loves everyone, except when they're being agressive to me and my sister. However, she has the habit of barking whenever someone tocks on our door and has scared more than one guest to death. She's not especially fat, but is old and very lazy, she spends the entire day looking at our guinea pigs (dunno why, even when they escape she doesn't even attack them !) and sleeping on a mattress, except when she's in heat, or it's lunch, dinner or feeding time. However, as soon as we're on the countryside, she's a changed dog. She's very playful, and runs after everything, including deer two times her size. She also likes to catch chickens, but always releases them. However, she's also more agressive to other dogs and more territorial. Here's a pic of her :

I remember my cousin had an 18-year old one which would bark at everyone entering the house.
