I was wondering, since I have a Pleco that I'm willing to sell off, to make it useful with 2 red-eared sliders? They're juveniles, probably 4-6 years old. Will the Pleco get hunks bitten off or will its fins get bit? Or will it get its eyeballs bitten off? Jut my question about turtles and plecostomus, since its very controversial.... |

Most animals ignore plecos, since they are normally so sedate. If the fish is at least as long as the turtles, you can try it. The worst they'll do is nick his fins a bit - I doubt they'd go for his eyes. If there is no trouble after a few days of surveillance, they'll probably be fine together so long as the turtles are always the same size or smaller than the pleco (thus make sure they don't grow faster.) BUT - for three animals, each of which can grow over a foot long, you need a big tank with a lot of water with a lot of filtration. Keep this in mind. |

Don't worry, the reason was because I just installed a new enclosure that should last the turtle a few years, and yes I know how big they can grow. (They're all quite small for their size too, so when they get bigger, I'll get a bigger enclosure.

What type of pleco? If it isn't the beauty but fragile L-number then ok. |
