A awesome buffalo. Nice! A small sugesttion (that you already thought about I think :P ): great color variations as variants- some animals are bright redish (much like this one), others are more pale, some more brownish alike the savannah ones and some have mixed brown-redish.

In resume, a mix of brown, red, black and orange. :P
I have a bunch of color variation references queued up for inspiration. Don't worry, I want my herd as diverse as you do ;)

I've noticed the color of the horns varies too. Some are pale grey and others are almost black.

Getting closed to finished on the main female skin. Gotta remember to ask Platy if a more beefed up male model with thicker, curvier horns can be whipped up too. And the babeh. Cannot forget about babeh moo-moo buffalo. :P
This bovine is so realistic that it looks like you took a picture of the real thing I have never seen such realism (other than the Radical Remake pack) of a land animal

Thank you :) But I didn't make the animal so much as I copied and pasted a bunch of parts from various reference photos onto the UV map. That's all skinning is. Copy and paste, make the parts match as much as possible, hide the seams, maybe do a texture overlay if some parts are blurry and can't be sharpened without looking like garbage xD

It's not like these things are painted by hand (my projects aren't, other designers are much more skilled artistically and DO make their skins by hand), with each individual hair fiber being drawn with my mouse in Photoshop :P

Copy and paste. Tweak. Check my work in nifskope. Copy and paste some more. Check in nifskope. Look for more references. Find none. Cheat with a closely related species (eyes, mouth, and bottom of the hooves are all domestic cow parts, texture overlay is a domestic cow pelt) when you can't find species-specific examples. Copy and paste. Tweak tweak tweak. Rinse and repeat. You learn tricks here and there to make it easier, but that's the basic gist.

Also, it's important to remember that no matter how beautiful a skin is, it's worth nothing if you don't have a good model to apply it to. So thanks, once again, to platypus and the ZTABC team (for the hooves!).

Actually, I made this one from scratch. (minus the hooves - those are what I got from the wisent) I was going to make them, but I didn't really know how to go at it, so I got lazy and just used the wisent ones. So thanks to Hendrix for that. xD

Thanks to Okeanos Savior for the model and MrGorsh for pointing me toward the tutorial for adding alpha properties to the nif :) Once I figure out what to do with babies and variants, this one will be ready for coding.

lol thanks guys. I haven't had much time to work on the buffalo this weekend (just too much going on), and the Seriema is on indefinite hold until I can find someone who can adjust the secretary bird rig for the model... or even longer for my original rigger to create a new bone and animation set.
