I'm seeing the same thing with my seals, pokeruto. All 7 females had bred with at least one of the males (showing as their "mate"), but none were pregnant. I moved them out of their exhibit into an adjacent exhibit, then back to their original exhibit and 3 of the 7 became pregnant. That's a step in the right direction, but it's still weird that they have to be moved for the pregnancy to trigger. Hmmmmmm.

Correction: 6/7 females are now pregnant. The one that is not may have actually had an unsuccessful breeding.

Update: 7/6 babies born. Why 7/6? Because Hawaiian Monk Seal 26 insisted on having twins. All have variant skins D: I guess I should assign a skin to the MonkSealHawaiian_Young xml?

I saw that she'd mated, picked her up and put her in another exhibit. Her pregnancy icon switched on. Let the timer run, when she went into the red and didn't show the "Going to give birth" action, I moved her into the adjacent exhibit again and poof! Baby seal.

Kind of clunky, but I might go ahead and release it and try to poke at it later.

Nah, I left the Archelon off to the side. I wasn't 100% happy with it and I didn't have enough time to poke at it.

@pokeruto: That's odd. I've had exhibits with 7 males/7 females and I think there's only been 1 fight-related death, and the victim was definitely a female (my only blonde D:). I'll look at the coding and see if I can adjust anything to lessen that.

In other news, I tried splicing some coding from another animal that had a designated "young" skin into my young .xml annnnd it crashed the game when it was time for baby to be born. So that's a no-go. I'm going to hang my head in shame and ask for help from some folks who have assisted in the past.

Standby. ;)

What exactly are you trying to do?

I want all of the babies to be born with 1 skin (a very dark gray). My first version had nothing added to the young .xml, and the babies are born with any of the adult skins. So I tried to add coding to the young .xml to designate the young skin as their default (and only) skin. Launched the game, waited for the adults to breed, and when the baby was about to be born, the game crashed. So I'm assuming it had something to do with the coding I added into the .xml.

Basically, I want the baby seals to work the same way a baby tapir does. Adults have their skins, baby has it's own. Just not sure how to do it.

Ghost added a section about that in the tutorial if I remember. It's a matter of having a singular Young.xml, and coding in the .tsk and .beh and adult.xmls
