I've wanted some additional cockatoos for my zoos too the Palm Cockatoo model is really nice, but because that specific species is so... distinctive, it was hard to use for other cockatoos. Now that platypus has edited the model, it should be more accessible for other designers.

This awesome Mibound. I following this topic for a while now but I feel like that I have to comment now. You did an fenomenal job at all birds. I especially like the cockatoo. With the new model it opens way to create even more species!

So I've been spending some time browsing the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Macaulay Library and am thinking of trying my hand at importing some new bird calls for these projects. The Laughing Kookaburra especially. I'd love to be able to walk through one of my zoos and hear that cackle. Are there any tutorials around for adding new sound files? or converting them? |

Thanks! After the "Birds of the World" pack, I'd like to do a "Parrots and Woodpeckers" pack, which would include the Citron-crested Cockatoo, among others. Platypus just sent me the updated Galah model, so the planes of the crest will meet earlier, meaning it won't look like two crests on either side of the head. The Palm Cockatoo has a much larger crest than the Galah, so we needed to scale it down or it would have looked weird. I'll work on it this weekend, along with a bajillion other things.

now that i think about it, there seems to be no sound making tutorial out there. i think i'll make one. here's a quick tut: -download Audacity, this program is very useful for editing sound files. *OPTIONAL: +if you want to convert a sound from a video, download Free Video to MP3 converter +in the converter, open the video which you have downloaded to your computer by simply drag the file to the converter's window. choose a destination folder for the file and the format of the sound file and Convert. -open the sound file with Audacity, you should see the sound waves of the file. -select the parts of the sound wave that produce the sound you wish to use by clicking and dragging (just like selecting texts). -Ctrl+C to copy -Ctrl+N to make a new window of Audacity -Ctrl+V to paste the sound -if there is unnecessary parts in the sound waves, simply select the part and press Delete -once you're satisfied with it, go to Tracks-->Stereo Track to Mono -go to File-->Export, choose a name and destination folder, export. -finally, correct the path of the sound file in the sound.xml of your animal. and you're done. wow, it seems longer and more complicated now that i wrote it down . i hope you success and i'll be waiting for the bird.
