Oxy's Reptiles and Herping Finds

Hi everyone. I love all animals, but reptile really have a special place in my heart. I've been keeping reptiles for 10 plus years and more recently have started keeping venomous species and crocodilians (supervised and with the help of other "dangerous" reptile keepers, of course.) The only thing I love even more than my captive animals is going out and actually finding wild ones. So I figured I'd make a topic where I can share some of my pics. And if you're wondering what herping is, its basically just the technical term for going out and searching for reptiles. I don't condone just anybody going out and getting an alligator or venomous snake either.

Thanks! This particular species has a very small venom yield. Its a very painful bite, but not deadly in most cases. Plus I follow strict handling protocol.

I've had him for about a year. He was about 10 inches long when I got him and now he's getting close to 2ft. Thanks!

Not sure what you mean. If you're talking about the 2nd pics, every alligator I've ever met does the same thing if you scratch/rub the back of his neck :)

I plan on building a very large enclosure in my basement as well as an outdoor pond area for in the summer. I would never dump him into the wild, or give him to a rescue. A lot of rescues would simply put him down. So he's here to stay!!

Thanks guys, he's not always so cute and happy though! xD
