I was born on the 3rd of July at precisely 4:00 pm, which is funny because my sister was born at exactly 4:00 am. Apparently my parents almost named me Donovan... glad that didn't happen. My name is actually Alex.

Well, I was a normal baby, mostly. Apparently I got chicken pox this year, I also ate so much sweet potato baby food that my skin began to turn orange. No joke, it's one of the vitamins in the sweet potatoes. My parents tell me I didn't cry very much as a baby, I just looked around and stared into space like I was stoned. My sister is now 3 years old.

We got the exterior of our house remodeled this year, which was a big change because I'd always lived in that house. Still do, as a matter of fact. Anyway, I didn't like changes when I was little, so naturally this made me very upset, but my dad invited all of his friends that worked on the house over for a cookout on my birthday. Yeah, that was an awesome birthday. Don't remember much else this year, except that I got stung by a wasp and my legged swelled up like a balloon.

The start of preschool. I loved preschool, even though it was a christian-y school, and I'm now an atheist, but I didn't care then. I have a particularly fond memory of my teacher Mrs. Rankin, and playing go fish with my grandparents on Grandparents Day. I also remember one someone brought in raw broccoli for our class's snack.

More preschool, more of the same thing. I didn't have any really good friends in preschool, but I knew a lot of people and so it was okay. I loved to play with the little plastic dinosaurs.

Kindergarten. One of my favorite years. I was pretty smart, I had a lot of friends. This was great, plus I only had to go to school for half of the day, so I could come home and my dad would make me lunch. I remember he would make me big plates of cheese and crackers. I was pretty young for my grade... I had just turned five when Kindergarten started. I also started to go fishing with my dad, which I used to love, but I don't do very much anymore. We would always go to this little park called Turtle Pond.

These years are pretty much a blur for me, but first grade was scary. I had to stay at school all day. My teacher was mean. I had to eat lunch in the cafeteria. People were bullies. Not a good year. I also developed my horrible fear of vomit around this time, which I still have, but not as bad. D:

This was a good year for me. I met one of my best friends this year, who to this day is my complete mental clone... she and I are like twins that were separated at birth. I had one of my favorite teachers of all time, And generally just enjoyed myself. I was in the gifted classes, where we would play board games and trivia games and just have fun. I always won at Animal Trivia... sometime around now I became fascinated with the idea of becoming a Marine Biologist... I loved whales, especially humpbacks, and I also really liked fish. But people started to separate... not everyone was friends with each other anymore.

Third grade was a weird year for me. I wasn't in the gifted class, but I was still clever. I developed my love for writing around now. My friend and I wrote our first book this year! It was a whopping 12 pages and was about a family of peanuts living in a Baseball Stadium. We called it Peanut Mania. (Creative, I know ) Unfortunately, my teacher was kind of annoying.

This year was fun. I loved my teachers, but my friend had different classes than me. I was once again in the gifted class. My personal life is kind of a blur... but my sister was in sixth grade and got a cell phone. I remember being very jealous. I also had to stay at school later than her, which sucked.I loved to go to the zoo, and I was just a normal kid, really.

This year was a big change. I now had five teachers. People weren't as nice, they started forming groups. I had my own nerdy friends. But the big thing this year was that we had to watch... THE MOVIE. (I think most of you know what I mean by this.) It actually wasn't bad, looking back on it, but at the time it was really weird for me. There was only one little animation that was... eh.

Middle school. Scary place. Made new friends, lost some old ones. There was the popular group, the nerds, the jocks. People started to change... physically and mentally... but I...didn't. I was kind of a late bloomer, and was kinda sheltered and innocent. It was weird... I felt oddly alone. (Remember, I'm pretty young for my grade though.)

The best year of my life, hands down. I loved school. My teachers were amazing, my classes were fun. I loved my friends, everyone got along. I began to change, physically and emotionally. I wasn't so much of a delicate little flower anymore. People constantly asked if my friend and I were dating though. I mean SERIOUSLY, I'm TWELVE. I do not need to be in a relationship.

This was a scary year for me. Things got... dark. My classes sucked and there was... drama. One of my friend told me she was bisexual. Another friend told me he was going to commit suicide... luckily he didn't. The girl that told me she was bisexual started cutting herself, which was terrifying, but we worked through it, she stopped, and she became another one of my best friends. There was some other minor drama, but I wont go into detail there. I also was in this competition called Power of the Pen, which I explained in my writing topic, but basically I had done really well the year before and not so good this year.But, I loved it. Writing consumed me... it was all I did, all I thought about, and then Power of the Pen was over and it seemed like my life had gone with it. I was devastated that it just... ended. I sat on my floor and stared at the ceiling for hours, just thinking, crying occasionally. This wasn't a good time for me. I tried writing more, but it had just lost that... spark. Still haven't found my inspiration yet. I also had one of the WORST SCIENCE TEACHERS ON THE PLANET this year.

I just turned 14 a couple of months ago, and I'm enjoying life. My summer was good, I feel good, and for once in what seems like forever, I'm truly happy. I've bee playing my instrument a lot, and am improving, I got better at art. I'm kind of going for the "well rounded" sort of thing. My writing is getting better too. I also met two awesome new people, Danny and Susan, and I'm really excited to get to know them better and also to get to know new people as well. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for me!
