- HISTORY OF THE PARK -

My wife Carolina and i were truly surprise when we open the envelope. Her father, to whom she hadn't spoken for years, had die. But that wasn't the full surprise, because acording to the lawyer that sent us the letter, he had left her daughter all his fortune (and it was a big one). Maybe he was trying to find some last hope for redemption through this generous act or maybe she was the only relative he had left, but whatever the case was, after a few weeks of burocracy and paperwork we found our self with a lot of money (like a six zeros cipher kind of number ). She had never have so much money for herself (at least not since she run away from home to marry me 10 years ago) so she was hesitant about what to do with it. I told her she should think about it conscientiously, and don't take rushed decisions. So i proposed to her to take a trip to her favorite place in the country: the Iguazú Falls.

After a few days there, we went to Posadas, a nearby city, and it was about that time when we first heard about this place. A local man told us the story of Harold Braun, a german inmigrant that came to Argentina after the WW1, to start over here with his wife Anna. Mr. Braun was a naturalist and passionate about wildlife, and so was his wife. So they decided to build their home in a land they bought just next to the jungle. Her wife, like Carolina now, was very wealthy. As the year passed by, they began to be concerned about the rising ilegal hunting that was taking place in the missionary jungle. Harold, during his walks through the forest, began to find animals wounded by the hunters. He finally told his wife about it and they decided to build a refugie for the poor creatures. So they bought this enourmous land and build what at first was the Braun's Rehabilitacion and Rescue Center for Wounded Animals (RRCWA). Their little enterprise began to growth really fast, and by the time both of them died, the Center had become a big and important place, where animals from all around the country were taken to be heal and to offer them protection. Their children inherited the place, and they continue with their parents hard work. But when they die as well, their own children couldn't take care of it anymore, so they just sold the Center to a very corrupt man, that stoled all the funds the Center had and abandoned it (and all the animals that lived there) to its fate. Some of the staff member stay, to take care of the animals, but the debts began to accumulate and the Center felt in disgraced.

Caro and i felt really touched by the story, so we asked the old man for directions, so we could go have a look for ourselves. The place was just a few miles away from the city, so we rented a car and went there. What we found was really heartbreaking. There were only three staff members left and a couple of volunteers, all of them working for free there, doing what they could to keep the animals healthy. But without any resources at all the conditions of the animals and their enclosures were deplorable.

After seeing that horrible scenario, Caro already knew what to do with her new money. We bought the Center. We paid the debts. We take care of the animals... and we rebuild the place. We kept the staff that was already here, we start paying the volunteers for their hard work during all this years, and we hired more people to work here.

So after six years of hard work, and an extreme make over, we transformed the ruins of the Center into the Zoo that is today.

IguaZOO only featured Southamerican and (a few) Central American animals. Our main objective is to contribute with the conservation of endangered species of the region (there for our Breedings and Reintroduction to the Wild Programs) and to educate people about the local fauna.

Thanks FP :) I just finished the second map a few hours ago so i'm happy :D

I know i promised to show the second map in July but due to personal issues and lack of time (and inspiration) i wasn't able to complete the map until today.

What i have to do now is to figure out how to reskin DM's European Wildcat into a Pampa's cat, and his Red Fox into a Pampa's fox :P (my first attempts to do this the past days were pathetic). If i can do that this is ready to start once again :) (if i can't i will start anyway and show the empty exhibits :P )

I also hope Maxforever release his Pampas Deer and the gian Armadillo (the first one should be in the teaser of his Argentinian pack so i hope this will be soon enough xD ). I'm also waiting for DD Patagonian Mara, but i have a plan B for that one.

Anyway i hope you guys like the teaser map and don't forget to vote on the poll so i can start working on the next section

Yes but the pack isn't avaible for download anymore (and to be honest, for what i saw in the pic, i don't like the pampas cat of that pack). The fox looked ok though.

Thanks Snoopy :)

I hope i can show it soon, is just that i'm missing so many animals and i don't want to show the empty exhibits, because... well because is a zoo after all and what is a zoo without the animals? :P Plus i enjoy writting the background stories of the animals xD
