What do you think about hunting all together? I think it should only be done for population control or for resources. Also don't tell me that sport hunting is conservation because its absolutely not. |

it depends on what do you mean with conservation (as population control IS conservation and is easily sport hunting too). Hunting is perfectly fine to me: we have hunted animals for thousands of years, and know we can "calculate" the impact on the species, which is something that gives us a huge responsability. that said, i think it's fine to hunt animals for food (even for trophies if they are still food animals) if the population allows you so, and for population control (especially of invasive species). hunting dangerous animals can be done too, although i find it sad. |

The best way to not get your heart broken, is pretending you don't have one.

I think it is ok as long as you eat what you kill, otherwise you are a psychopath that doesn't kill humans......Yet.

As long as no animals go through unnecessary pain or suffering, are killed humanely & no species are endangered, threatened or extincted I have absolutely no problem with it.

I agree with hunting, also sport hunting, at least they, like Marx said, killed humanely or only minor numbers of the animals are killed. They could even use a liberty, like hunting overpopulated animals. Killing animals they are overpopulated is also fine, eating or not, they will also serve food for nature themselves as like nature documentaries says "Nothing is wasted in this world" |

Same to most of you guys above. Killing for food, or even sports seemed to be acceptable for me as long as the animals don't get much torment before they died( something like headshot, not jaws trap or snare which are very cruel toward animals.) and aren't endangered species. However, I am againt some kind of hunting such as shark finning, whale hunting, poaching for exotic food, pets, goods, etc. |

The soup btw. I also disagree on killing endangered animals. Though I would agree invasive species, Cane toads, Rabbits, |

Shark finning is cruel, it causes unnecessary pain and suffering to the shark. |

I know, I never said that sharks should be killed, I just like it, doesn't mean I have to agree with it. I would agree that they should be killed humanely, in a small number though. But I guess we eating or not eating shark-fin soup, wouldn't affect anything, the world being a money-brained society

I believe personally hunting for food should be acceptable among edible species that are not endangered, for example Deer of Pheasants. Population control is also acceptable though there are more efficient ways than hunting, but I do maintain that in all situations hunting should be done in as humane a way as possible. For example in Fox hunting the foxes are often torn to pieces by dogs rather than killed with a gun which is (comparatively) humane, I'm not on board with that. Sport or Trophy hunting, generally I think should be limited to food or population control animals, especially since many of those that are allowed like Hogs or Deer make very good trophys (I'm wanting to bring up bears but hesitant at the same time since I don't really know the situation with hunting bears, whether it's mainly a sport thing or a population control thing with them). And if I were Hunting I personally would subscribe to the rules of 'Fair Chase', such as not using traps, vehicles or excessive guns like the automatic guns (though no one in their right mind would use an automatic gun for hunting anyway). I'm also very against the idea of canned hunts for this reason and consider those who participate in canned hunts as the lowest of the low among the hunting community (Note: This all being said I am not a hunter, I'm only speculating on how I'd be if I were, I might hunt at some point, but given that I'm in England where we cannot have any forms of weapons, nor do I have any necessary license to hunt, when I go to live in America with Kayla on the other hand I might well consider it) Edited by Murdock129, Sep 7 2013, 02:00 PM.

At least when it comes to the sharks, they end up in food, at least part of it. I can even agree on the ones in a while whale-hunting and seal-hunting as part of local traditions. (Although not counting the dolphin-killings in Taiji, because that's pure killing for fun and has nothing to do anymore with tradition) Elephants and rhino's in Africa killed for their horn because some Chinese dudes think it's healthy, that's just cruel. |

I also believe bounties or rewards should be put on invasive species to help eliminate them from the area they are invading (ie. deer in New Zealand). I also agree with Orca Freak that traditions which endanger species need to be put to an end. The Taiji dolphin hunt should only capture dolphins for sale rather than kill them, as the meat poses a health risk to people, & I do believe that the locals could make more money selling captured dolphins. Now tell me which is better 1. The Indonesian Lamalera hunting Sperm whales because they NEED it 2. Some greedy a$$hole paying thousands of dollars just so he can end the life of a poor rhino or elephant |
