So, I know at least some of us practice fishing regularly. I went yesterday, and this @$#+?°«¢¿£ took me ten minutes to haul up. Grabbed my shrimp, bit on the hook, and fled in the rocks. It's about a foot (30 cm) long.

Fishing kinda annoys me since I really think I'd like to try fishing, I just have a phobia if fishhooks and other such small nasty stabby things. Is there a kind of fishing that doesn't use them? Spear Fishing or something that people actually do |

There are plenty just EVERYWHERE here. I nearly stabbed myself on one at the beach. Caught this one with a whole shrimp. |

Nice catch! My most interesting catch had to have been when a seagull swallowed my hook at the beach. Me and my friend spent 10 minutes taking it out. We gave it some water after and it was fine. |

Yes, since the sharp bit of a spear is a long way away from me, and I don't have to individually stick it on every time, plus it's large meaning it's not fiddly and I won't slip and stab myself, my worst cuts all come from small fiddly things, like the tiny modelling knife that I was using with my warhammer that slipped and stabbed into my finger ; ; Still have a scar there, it was small but hurt like hell |

I know your pain. I stabbed me pretty much everywhere with fishing hooks. |

You guys in Europe are lucky, you have great fishing. If you go to some random place like a river or pond all you can catch is bluegills, bass, carp, catfish, or if you're lucky, some other sunfish species. A few places have trout but they're almost all rainbows with occasional brook trout. Most of our interesting fish live on lakes. My biggest fish was that 3' northern pike I showed before, followed by a golden morph rainbow trout at 22'' and then a natural rainbow trout at 21''. |

me too Murdock: not just my fingers or hands, but also my arms, legs, butt, lips (Kharma ?) and even DOWN THERE ... anyway, i recently bought the FIPSAS permit which allows me to fish in two more lakes near my home. i visited one yesterday, lost 2 carps (but i don't care as i don't like carps at all) and then sunfish swarmed in. at least i caught a couple of small breams (one pooped on me). Flish, Italy isn't actually that good too: we lost the majority of our native species, and the environment is so ruined that many people actually stopped going fishing at all. We don't have nice spots here either ![]() The only way you can go freshwater fishing is buy a card and go to a sportfishing lake. And a lake where fish are introduced seems like cheating to me. I always go sea-fishing. |

Furka, the stuff you catch in your pics is more variety than you catch anywhere here. ![]() You have to buy a licence to fish here, too, unless its on private property and you have permission. |

well here it works in three different ways: free waters belong to the state, you need a fishing license for those. FIPSAS waters require a specific permit but not the license. private sportfishing lakes don't require any permit but you pay everytime you go there. and what kind of fish are kept in your sportfishing lakes ? i'm curious ... We have one lake in the whole region where they keep pikes, carps and trout At least for sea fishing you don't need a permit.I prefer ledgering and use shrimp or worms as bait. |

We don't have sportfishing lakes from what I've seen, mostly just big manmade lakes that double as beaches and fishing lakes stocked with Walleye, Smallmouth bass, and perch. Usually a few other species get into the lake but I'm pretty sure those are the only ones they stock. Edited by Flish, Sep 8 2013, 06:36 PM.

CJ, is that a Rockfish because it looks just like one? Anyways, I do a good bit of fishing, and i think one of the biggest I caught was either a catfish or maybe a bull shark that broke my line when I was deep sea fishing. |
