People who are interested in dinos only to watch them fight and argue over what's the most badazz one are a disgrace to Paleonthology. |

Awesome, more hate from idiot fanboys. Spinosaurus aegyptiacus really is a fascinating animal, not that they care since it ruined their childhood (really Joe Johnston and Jack Horner ruined their childhood if anyone, Spinosaurus can't have ruined them since it's been extinct for 97 million years). They really need to learn to appreciate dinosaurs as animals rather than monsters, because the latter point of view isn't going to get them too far in a paleontology career. |

I know it's unrelated, but what does that Cassowary's bellowing mean? Is it a sign of aggression? Because once one bellowed at me. |

The fact that there's still articles about Triceratops never having existed littering the internet. Aren't we over this now? Chances are Triceratops and Torosaurus aren't synonymous anyway (and even if they are, it's Torosaurus that would be rendered invalid, not Triceratops). I'd really like to be able to research ceratopsians without encountering this s**t!

Livyatan disagrees with that statement*. Besides, why must people have to try and make dinosaurs super badasses just to like them? *I didn't make the scale Edited by DinoBear, Apr 22 2014, 03:33 PM.

Because most of these 'people' that do it are just annoying little assholes with little to no knowledge on the subject, to whom the dinosaurs are nothing but another set of monsters with 'badasses' and 'losers'. They mixed up paleontology with monster battle games. And arena-fight-type games with dinosaurs aren't helping the case, from what I see. |

I never see someone that say they love dinosaur because "That Leaellynasaura is so fluffy and cute." Or "Oviraptor is the very fascinating parent who warm its eggs to dead." Everyone said they love dinosaur because "T. rex is a badass because it can tear opponent's head off." or "Their favorited Carcharodontosaurus has blade like teeth and can tear preys to pieces in one swipe.".... And that annoys me.... Don't dinosaurs have any other thing than fighting? Edited by Mathius Tyra, Apr 23 2014, 05:30 AM.

This pretty much sums up the public's view on prehistory. When they think of dinosaurs they imagine a world of ever-erupting volcanoes and reptiles that did little else but fight each other to the death, a view that's really starting to disgust me. The world of the Mesozoic was just the same as the world of today, albeit with a different set of living things that called it home. Edited by CyborgIguana, Apr 23 2014, 09:40 AM.

I have to agree with that JMT I mean yes I might be that with some dinosaurs, but the ones I pick as my favorites because they had a unique thing about them something that gave them a wonderful trait like my top dinosaurs are Carcharodonotsaurus, Megaraptor, Carnotaurus, and Parasaurolophus... I like Carchars because they were a adaptive to the north Africa desert and where naturally built to hunt some of the largest herbivores to exist, plus they were a wide spread group too that rivaled the Tyrannosaurs at a time for who was the apex predator in their environments... Megaraptors were because well my version of a Megaraptor is a fluffy giant who has some sort of black coat of feathers like a giant black panthers with colorization on the crest... (Mine apparently I like the idea of mood feathers.... NIY) Plus they are built to be a amazing hunter while also being a great dinosaur all together. Carnotaurus because it is the Flesh eating buil I love the name and the species is pretty cool, let alone I love the idea of it being a medium sized predator living in family groups, seemingly making me think of a herd of bulls with a hunger for meat makes me interested plus I like the Abelio group, plus I think it is somewhat like me in a type of it is a bull that eats meat which makes me think of me when I am not in a good mood lol. But Para is a majestic and gentle herbivore who can disorient predators while making a lovely dinosaur call, while being graceful (By a dinosaur stander anyways) it is the wild horse of the Cretaceous as well as all the hadrosaurs and ornithopods similar to them being the Horses, Antelopes, and etc... But normal people other than me (I see more than one side of a animal most of the time), seem to think that dinosaurs are just lethal predators who do nothing but fight every moment of their life eating their own children, killing each other every time they lock eyes... I see them myself as a animal who tries to survive taking the bull by the horns and struggles to stay on while holding on their future generations on their shoulders or hips (If they have no good shoulders on them, T-rex lol). Just trying to be good parents, and keep their species going... |

Parasaurolophus didn't actually use its call to disorient predators, that's a myth spread by Clash of the Dinosaurs. Otherwise I agree with what you're saying.

this is pretty much what most of society expect to see in dinosaurs, brutal and vicious killing machines to be one day resurrected(if possible)and expect them to be this scaly Jurassic park monster when really it would be a prehistoric feathered bird ancestor. and then everyone complains about science ruining dinosaurs and so on. also the media, they sometimes make dinosaurs with inaccurate anatomies or "specially not yet proven but would be cool if it happened" body parts. like frilled dilo which is the main example of inaccurate "but not proven but would still be cool" dinosaur. The "vicious monster" view is the main reason many people are so against the idea of cloned dinosaurs. They think we'll end up with this ferocious, unfathomable thing that will ultimately break out and wipe out humanity. In reality, we'd almost certainly end up with an ordinary animal that would be very easily containable (though I'm still not entirely comfortable with the idea of cloning a giant theropod like T. rex). |

I'd be less worried if we cloned tyrannosaurs than smaller dinos that could escape and become invasive species. |
