I did not know that! I thought it all happened in 100,000 years - I am 100k off! |

Well it could've taken 100,000 years. I don't think we're entirely sure. |

I also agree with CI, They will die off slowly, because just after the impact, scavengers probably have a large feast, then all die after there no food left. |

About Jurassic World's D-rex, I just hope it doesn't look like a blended patched-up mixture between Cthullu, Zoidberg, a T-Rex (the movie creature), and a chameleon...

My guess is that it'll be something like a T. rex with longer arms and talons that can turn invisible and stretch it's jaws out like a snake. TBH, that sounds freaking awesome to me. |

Better, than my first imagination before seeing the pic, a raptor like animal with cuttlefish head (there are no T-Rex and Snake features in my imagination)

That sounds like a grade B movie to me. Or a Sharktopus and Dinoshark offspring. I'm afraid they'll make D-Rex (I hate these nicknames with the species name wrote with a capital, blargh) as large as Tyrannosaurus, with long, pronated, raptor-like arms, fast, agile, JP-raptor-level intelligent and having that bone-crushing bite of tyrannosaurids. Pair it with masking abilities and you have an awesome movie monster that doesn't have much common with dinosaurs. HOWEVER I can't wait to see "dinosaur fans" on youtube discussing what D-Rex is superior to in how many ways. Edited by Similis, May 24 2014, 12:51 AM.

This is related to paleontology and geology in general, but I just want to vent A few days ago, my dad came back from Aussie and got me a fossilized mosasaurus tooth. it's awesome. I was talking about it at school, and everyone was like "that's boring. It's just a piece of rock". In science we are currently studying geology, which everyone (including the teacher) thinks is a waste of time and stupid and boring. Well, I think it's interesting! Even though I am by no stretch of the imagination a paleo-expert, I find paleontology fascinating and at one point was considering pursuing it as a career. Just because something may appear to some as a piece of rock, doesn't mean it's not interesting!

Then tell them that million after their death they will become 'rocks' too. They don't know that tooth belongs to a mega predator *Imagine Mossasaurus gets back to life and terrorize them in a swimming pool* Off-topic: When I was opening this, the page stat says '0 users reading this topic'

Well, Gigantosaurus is a nomen dubium, but it's still fun to comment on 'Top 10 biggest predators' saying that Gigantosaurus was a herbivorous sauropod and not a predator at all. JP fans go batshit crazy, thinking that Giganotosaurus never existed ![]() |
