What annoys you about paleontology?; Rant on about moronic theories, complaints, or just animals that annoy you.

Well in any case, that's the way Deinonychus was usually reconstructed until the discovery of feathered deinonychosaurs like Microraptor and Sinornithosaurus.

IIRC its been a theory since long before then, I remember hearing about comparisons of deinonychus and archeopteryx skeletons resulting in a theory that deinonychus may have been a bird, but it was shot down immediately and nothing came of it for a long time

exactly xD
initial theories of many dinosaur discoveries thought them to have been giant birds, how much closer those were to truth than what was eventually agreed upon >_<

this was my reaction.
The picture was very accurate for it's time, and was drawn by Robert Bakker if I remember correctly. The annoying aspect of the drawing is that ripoffs of it still used in books today! -_-

Speaking of which, I'm annoyed when people get snobby over outdated paleontology, saying that paleontologists in the past were morons and the dinosaurs they reconstructed were hideous. Remember that it wasn't their fault they were wrong, they just had less evidence to go by back then.

the ones who are idiots are modern film and publishing companies for claiming they are depicting accurate dinosaurs

if they would only admit that retrosaurs are sci-fi and not real, then it would be fine if they used them >_<

Formerly Dilophoraptor

What if there was a Movie where Dinosaurs fought their Retrosaur selves?

That would be awesome. Like those stories where a character has to fight an evil duplicate of himself. xD

thats what some people were hoping JW would be like

retrosaurs can be done well, IE I liked the (recent) King Kong and how they created fictional species to represent the old depictions while still making them somewhat more believable

Great, now the TV show I stated long ago present dinosaurs again -_- . First they featured scenes from JP, said that Lesothosaurus is the smallest dinosaur (There's also a JP Compy animatronic in some scenes), And said Dimorphodon is a terrifying predator (Well, for insects, it probably is xD ).

Why don't they just include Azhdarchids rather than exaggerating a small Pycnofiber ball (Had to do this xD ) Dimorphodon. They are a hundred time terrifying :P .
