What annoys you about paleontology?; Rant on about moronic theories, complaints, or just animals that annoy you.

I just want to say that I, to some extent, admire how much effort some people put into this.

the Dude who said no skulls have been found, Megalosaurus has its snout and front portion of lower jaw found, ad it was the first dinosaur described.

How does a Dromeosaur skull resemble a Rhino's in any way shape or form?

Cool....another one of those paranoid "The government is evil/anti-science/aliens!/God is comin'!/they are hiding everything from us!/vaccines are evil/new world order!/etc." dirtbags.

I admit they have such a mish mash of moronic ideas that could be used as a shitty series of sci-fi/religious movies......but yeah. How those little brains of theirs could fit so much BS.

I swore I was about to laugh and cry simultaneously after reading Nomis's last link. However, it does bring up an interesting point about the various dinosaur bonebeds (like the Centrosaurus bonebed in Dinosaur Provincial Park), about how unlikely it is that entire herds of dinosaurs would have died in the same place at the same time, and how events like floods would be expected to spread fossils over a wider range. Obviously I'm not giving this "dinosaurs never existed" BS the slightest bit of credibility, but I'd still like to hear someone else's thoughts on this.

As for the point about how dinosaur fossils are seldom found by people disinterested in paleontology, that can easily be explained by the fact that people with a bigger interest in paleontology have more knowledge about where fossils can be found and how they can be recognized, so it only makes sense that they'd find fossils more often than an average person with little to no interest in paleontology. Besides, dinosaur fossils HAVE been found by people with little paleontological interest (albeit less often for the reason I just stated). Baryonyx, anyone? The holotype specimen was initially discovered by a guy walking his dog, who as far as I know had no prior interest in dinosaurs or fossils.

Not to mention that if a random guy finds a fossil, either it won't understand what it is, or it will keep it for itself as cool stuff ...

I'm also amused by the fact that the guy brought up the debate surrounding the origin of hydrocarbons, which has little or nothing to do with dinosaurs. xD

I'm done trying to educate these idiots, I'm just messing with them now

@Cyborg
thats nothing, he brought up "who shot JFK" and "how fast does light travel" to try and draw focus away from his own screw ups

I'll give him credit for the fact that one of the sources he cites brings up the issue of animals from wildly different time periods occasionally being found in the same rock layers (though I'm not sure as to how reliable these claims are). However, it's far better to look for alternative explanations for such phenomena before saying "I don't know, therefore all fossils are fake".
