Even more annoying than the fact that there are people stupid enough to claim that dinosaurs, animals whose past existence on this planet is as well-evidenced as the existence of electrons or gravity, never existed is the fact that most of these people don't actually know anything ABOUT dinosaurs or paleontology in general. Why are we expected to listen to them when they don't even have any knowledge on the subject they're debating?? It's times like this that I almost believe ignorance should be a criminal offense punishable by law.

The twisted chimeras that creationists believe necessary to prove evolution would, in fact, disprove evolution if anything: or at least our current model of it. We have plenty of evidence to support evolution and natural selection in their current forms, creationists are just oblivious to most of it.

I am currently having a debate with a creationist on a forum. Do you know what the worst part is? They are stupid. No really, there is no way around it. You keep repeating the same point, explaining it step by step, you can literally go You: So babies are not clones of their parents, you agree? Him: Yeah You: And the more distantly related people are, the less they look the same? Him: Yeah You: And that is because our genes are passed down from parent to child, but not perfectly, so there are some changes between generations Him: Yeah You: And they compile over time, making things slightly different each generation, until eventually there are large differences Him: Yeah You: And if those changes keep compiling over and over again, eventually you may barely be able to recognize them as related? Him: Yeah You: Well that is evolution Him: No ???????????? |

I still prefer creationists over the stuck in the past retrosaur lovers at least creationists have SOME reasoning for not believing in evolution but JP fanboys have no good reason to keep arguing tyrannosaurs didn't have feathers (etc.) |

Nature ultimately couldn't care less about what humans think of her creations. So even if T. rex did look less badass with feathers (which I'm not convinced it does), it's still not a valid argument to use.

Maniraptoran dinosaurs in general pretty much fit the description of the creationist's "Crocoduck". But ducks didn't evolve from crocodiles anyway, so why should such a creature exist?

Basically, creationists want an animal with bird and reptile like features. We then point out that birds are reptiles but they wont accept this. Then, we show them any of the multiple Mesozoic birds and bird-like dinosaurs, which have several distinctly non-avian and avian features simultaneously, but they always claim that these are either dinosaurs our birds. The problem is that they do not understand, or wont understand, what evolution is. Their entire method of going about debating us is by making a strawman of evolution, one which no actual scientist believes in, and then not accepting any actual definition of evolution. Thus, they point out the flaws in the version of evolution that THEY designed, and blame us for having overlooked them, even though we literally just addressed it two minutes ago. |

Anatosuchus is a crocodile with a duck like snout, with teeth and more crocodilian than bird like. |
