I have seen my cats try to open doors with door knobs. They seem to understand the concept but they just can't hold on due to the lack of dexterity. |

Support its size? It's only a hawk-sized animal... And it is clearly not a herbivore as well. |

The fact that the hypothesis about female tyrannosaurs being larger than males is often taken as a fact and it's applied to pretty much every other theropod. |

The hypothesis is mostly based on the fact that Sue is the largest T. rex specimen known from reasonably complete remains, and yet we're not even sure it was a female.

Nope, sue is just a nickname, and we have no clue about tyrannosaur dimorphism. We know of it from a few species, but T.rex, and its relatives, are not among them. Anyway, the statement is not likely, nor is it unlikely. Certain bird species have larger females, some have larger males, although almost all crocodilians have larger males. Really, we do not know, but asserting what we do not know as fact, is just wrong. |

This only relates loosely to paleontology, but creationist or fringe sources that actually bring up one or two somewhat valid arguments are even more annoying IMO than sources that are utter nonsense, since they frequently gnaw at the back of my mind until my sense of reasoning is able to kick in and shake them off. Obviously my conscious brain gives no credibility whatsoever to young-earth creationism, but my impressionable subconscious occasionally needs a little re-assurance. It's the curse that comes with having anxiety and depression issues. Also the fact that the venomous Dilophosaurus trope refuses to die. It was a neat addition to the JP Dilophosaurus, but why must every Dilo be a spitter nowadays?? |
