How was that the most offensive thing that has been said towards creationists? Just go back a bit earlier in this very thread, and you will see lots of stuff far worse than that, which was not commented on. And really, why should we be catering to these people anyway? I care for the future of the world, so I don't see why I should not be harsh towards those seeking to destroy it. |

You just claimed that all creationist are stupid with no dignity. If you don't find it offensive, try replacing Creationists with whatever word that fits you. |

Okay, let me make that more clear: Young earth creationists are either incredibly ignorant, or incredibly stupid, there are no other options. Now, if you are just ignorant, that is fine, just go educate yourself, but I wont defend Ken Ham, and I suspect that neither will you. That is also ignoring what I said about me not having been the first, and presumably not last, to have said it, honestly the fact that you are jumping on it now is just odd. Edit: Oh and just to be very, very, clear, I am not meaning to insult anybody based on opinions, nor due to anything personal, and if you are a so called "old-earth creationist", who just believes that the universe and earth was created by god, and that he guides evolution, then that is still very silly in my opinion, but in that point, I cannot prove you wrong, and I can at least respect that, but let us not start defending young earthers. I think we shouldn't be discussing YEC more than we discuss flat-earthers here - basically marginal shots of something really awful, not few pages long rants. It's not science, only real way it relates to paleontology is how it twists the data into something that comforts the masses about their own life's origin and/or purpose. Sure, it's anti-intellectual for the most part, but all we can do about it is make sure that future generations get proper education ![]() Lately I've been annoyed that when I try to find a good skeletal on the internet, all I receive is David Peters. Ew. |

No idea who he is, since I don't care. Most posts in the past were mocking a specific target, aka the people who made illogic comments or reconstructions. And if things went too far, the Staff intervened, and I can assure you that we did. Gorsh: I had that problem too. Edited by Furka, Jul 26 2014, 12:35 PM.

Yes, that is really annoying, especially since I know that david peters is not trustworthy, but I also know that it is impossible for EVERYTHING he does to be wrong, so when I see something by him, I do not know what to think, it seems legit, but then again, that is his whole shmuck, and I do not know enough about it to judge. He is also widely inconsistent, as, despite his stupid "pterosaurs are squamates" idiocy, he has also apparently supported small winged primitive archosaurs as their ancestors... which actually seems reasonable, yet it completely contradicts his previously, and still asserted, stance. |

Just because someone got away with it, that doesn't mean it's ok. Also, you claimed that Creationists every where should be "stamped out". Why, because you don't agree with them? How are they a threat to education, most people don't even take them seriously to begin with. |

1. I meant young earth creationists, I thought that was pretty obvious, and I feel no remorse in saying that such stupidity should not be allowed. Is that offensive? In most cases I try not to be, but in this case, if that is how people see it, so be it. I don't want to offend people, I want to educate them, but if education is offensive to them, then that is what I am going to do, no matter what. 2. They are a threat because they have taken over the education systems in multiple middle eastern countries and american states, indoctrinating children even though it is illegal. They are a threat because they hate science, and many of them are in positions of power. Make no mistake, these are not a fringe group, over 40% of americans are young earthers, they are a threat. I want what is best for everybody, but I am not going to stand back and say "you go!" while a bunch of lunatics hunt every species to extinction, pollute the atmosphere to the point of no return, and defund all forms of science, just because they believe that it will all be over any moment now anyway, so what does it matter. I want to see a bright future, don't you? Well these people want to defund science, and in the long term, if they managed to do that, it would be as bad as a third world war. |

Because it's only them who do that, right ? I know several Creationists, and they are way more intelligent that many atheists I know. Just because someone has a different opinion than you it isn't automathically stupid. |

Whether or not the earth is 6000 years old, pollution is important, global warming happens, and everybody who is not a christian is a horrible person, is not a matter of opinion, it never was, it never will be. No, they are not the only ones doing it, but trust me, they are a large part. Many of these people feel no remorse over destroying the environment, after all, the bible said that it all belonged to them, and it will all be gone any day now anyway. Look, as I said before, I do not want to argue over this, because I do not want an argument to begin with. I want peace, and I want the future, these people are a threat to all of that, if they had it their way, we would be digging up worms out of the dirt, and if your smart friends are not like that, then I am not talking about them. |

A piece of free advice, if you don't want an argument try not to insult and mock those with belief systems other than your own, consider what you are saying (and consider if you might be offended if people said it about you), consider other people are free to believe what they want to and NEVER talk about stamping out a group of people. Also more on topic, I'm not a big paleo-fan, but it is kinda annoying when I try to find out just how out of date all my knowledge on the subject is lol It's very surreal just how different a Tyrannosaurus is from when I was a child and learning about them, it's good that there's progress, but I'm annoyed by how it's moving so fast it's hard to really keep up |

I fail to see how those that don't try to impose their religion onto others are a threat... those that do certainly are, but many don't... many creationists (*cough*oldearth*cough*) actually bother to take the evidence that exists into consideration, creationism and evolution are not mutually exclusive, and yet there are many people on each side who refuse to realize this @Murdock yes, sometimes I feel the same way, just a few years ago feathers were thought of as "sketchy", as an "exception from the norm", and now they are the new conservative assumption @Gorsh, not all of his skeletals are horrible, what I do if I end up using any of his skeletals as a reference, is I compare it with other skeletals, ignore his dumb posing, and then if it seems fine I'll use it you probably wonder why I would bother if I had already found other references to compare why I would even use his, its because he does make them very convenient and easy to reference Edited by stargatedalek, Jul 26 2014, 02:03 PM.
