Both of those look somewhat underfeathered to me, but definitely badass!

Why are people actually scared of that? It's like, half a foot tall at the most, not to mention it's just a grouse.

I'm guessing you've never been chased by a rooster. It's not a pleasant experience, trust me.

As my dad jokes when we pass a chipmunk in the forest... It has big fangs and is the king of the forest.

Cyborg pls. Brooding hens. Roosters are just territorial. Some brooding hens want to gouge your eyes and feast on your flesh because you invaded the area of the nest. Not all are like that, but my grandmother had a hen that terrorized every other animal (including a large dog) in the vincinity just because it was in the brooding mode.

Of course, humans can't be harmed seriously by chickens, but just because it has feathers doesn't mean it's docile.

as someone who frequently ends up approaching birds she probably shouldn't, trust me when I say very few compare to game birds in pure viciousness

I was once attacked by a swan.

Don't fuck with swans.

I suppose the best way to explain why it is scary, when they look so... not scary, is to picture this:

A beautiful women walks calmly down the street, and you have to go home, so you have to walk in her direction. As soon as you come within 20 meters though, she suddenly pulls out a chainsaw and screams at the top of her lungs while trying to saw your head off.
