What annoys you about paleontology?; Rant on about moronic theories, complaints, or just animals that annoy you.

God Megalodon fanboys... i tought we were done with those

For those folk who think Megalodon is the incarnation of poseidon himself, mr Livyatan has bad news...

its awfull when reality comes and literally gnaws your dreams away ain't it Megalotards....

on a more serious on topic note:

What annoys me about paleontology? The idea that people think that dinosaurs were fleshed out versions of their skeletons, heck very few animals today look like their skeletons

would you FFS guess this is a great grey owl?

Posted Image

no? exactly, now see what happens when we apply the same logic we apply to dinosaurs on living things

God the horror...

B-but Megalodon

Posted Image

We all know megalodon ate blue whales for snacks.
Sorry, but the second image actually depicts a pair of juvenile Eobalaenoptera whales (which, even at their adult size, were only around 20-25 feet long IIRC). They are definitely not blue whales.

People who think that dinosaurs were the earliest animals on Earth. Not even close, they're actually fairly recent in the grand scheme of evolution.

even worse, when people claim "the big bang didn't happen so that means dinosaurs couldn't have existed billions of years ago and that means dinosaurs coexisted with humans"
just, no, nononononono no >_<

Saying the Big Bang never happened doesn't even make any sense. The universe is constantly expanding and has presumably always been expanding, so it's an inevitability that at one point in the distant past it must have been a microscopic singularity. How do people not get this?

Its because it has the word "Bang" so they think its an explosion like c4 or something, Though it is (kinda, Massive Expansion apply to both) in Layman's terms, it much more complex than that.

its pretty common for people "debunking" evolution to attack things entirely unrelated to evolution and then claim theres a connection
