What annoys you about paleontology?; Rant on about moronic theories, complaints, or just animals that annoy you.

Speaking of which, that's another thing that annoys me, when people say that just because something looks ugly or ridiculous means it can't be accurate. Not saying that's what you guys are implying, it's just something that generally annoys me.

People who insist that we know everything there is to know about how dinosaurs looked and behaved and are scared to death of speculation in paleo-art (again, not saying this is necessarily what anyone here in particular believes).

I get annoyed when I'm at a museum and some kid looks at the pterodactyl and says "mommy look at the birdie."

How the prehistory section in the national history museum in DC is closed until 2019.

Why? Lack of funding or people just don't care about it anymore?

Pterodactyl is an incorrect word for Pterosaurs.

How under-rated pterosaurs tend to be. They're far more interesting (at least in my opinion) than many of the animals fanboys drool over (such as Megalodon). Quite frankly I'm surprised that a 17-foot-tall flying giraffe stork that preys on adorable dinosaur hatchlings hasn't received more recognition by now.

Pterodactyl is an incorrect word for Pterosaurs.
this is another thing that annoys me, I call a pteranodon a pterodactyl and people try to seem all smart saying "pterodactyls don't exist, its a pterosaur"

this isn't exact, but heres the just of how it works;
pterodactyl = short tailed pterosaur

Just to go back on peters:

He is wrong, straight up wrong. It is not a matter of speculation. When he says that longisquama is the ancestor of pterosaurs, he is wrong, when he states that pterosaurs are squamates, he is wrong, when he says that pterosaurs were bipedal, he is wrong, and when he states that photoshop is a magical fossil-discovering tool, he is wrong.
