What annoys you about paleontology?; Rant on about moronic theories, complaints, or just animals that annoy you.

Swigity Swag what's in the Bag

Poor Rexy. :(

Why did they put him on the Megalodon tank, don't you know Tyrannosaurs don't effect the upper appendage area?!

Such fight scenarios are always stupid and a waste of time IMO. These are animals, people, not Pokemon! You can live without knowing who would win in a fight between Carnotaurus and Lythronax!

Sorry about the double post, but people who think direct evidence is the only kind of evidence really grind my gears as well.

Saying sorry before double posting doesn't make it anymore acceptable. If anything, it shows that you know the rules and yet you decide to ignore them. I will let this one pass as a verbal warning, but i've been seeing people doing this a lot lately so for the future know that it will result in a real warning.

I think way to much focus is put into these pointies systems, double posting within moderation is not upsetting the functionality of the site, its just because of "oh no, people are trying to get pointies"

I know for a fact of some people who were even scared off from registering because of it

Regardless, it's part of the rules. The edit button is literally right there, it's not hard to use. The only time I ever double post is on my S&T stuff or in a topic that hasn't been posted in for more than a week or so and only if I'm the one who made it. Anyways this has nothing to do with paleontology, so we should end this right now :)

I didn't post that to discuss it. I was just reminding all of you about the rules. If you have a concern about the rules you can make a topic in the Staff PM box and discuss it with the staff.

Sorry, guys. I guess I thought double-posting was acceptable in certain cases.

I hate how little effort is sometimes put into scientific names. You get the chance to name a dinosaur, so you name it Gasosaurus. ಠ_ಠ
Gasosaurus (Chinese: 气龙属) was a tetanuran dinosaur discovered in Dashanpu, China. The scientific name, meaning "Gas Lizard", honours the gasoline company that found the Dashanpu fossil quarry in Sichuan Province, now named as the Lower Shaximiao Formation.

I know that, but its still an awful name. :P Naming it after the company instead of gasoline would have made a lot more sense.

(incorrectly) to pterosaurs in general.
That is the annoying part. People can't tell the difference and sometimes put long tails on Pteranodon.

A) long tails on pteranodon was pretty out of the blue :/

B) that wasn't what you said earlier, so don't say something else to try and make it look you were right all along

Actually, foreign people I have met use the word "Pterodactyl" as the common name of every Pterosaurs, similar to how we call Cervids, deers. :P

When people ask me to explain how on Earth birds are remotely like dinosaurs. Sure, want me to explain why the sky is blue or why the planet is round while I'm at it?

Maybe you could bring in anatomical similarities and how dinosaurs vary in shapes and sizes just like birds.
