I have yet to meet a single person attempting to debunk the past existence of dinosaurs who even knows anything ABOUT dinosaurs or paleontology in general.

-the other day on youtube I had a guy compare evolution to a kitchen, saying that just because you can see incremental changes between things doesn't mean they evolved from one another -I pointed out that upon seeing a spork would you not assume that its plan was based on either a fork or spoon -he said that a spork can not be based on either a fork or spoon because its both -I said why can't archaeopteryx be both a bird and a dinosaur -he said he could draw a cross between a cat and dog and claim cats were the ancestors of dogs -I pointed out that archaeopteryx is not fictional -he called me naive (and some unrepeatable things) for believing "what the evil Asian governments tell me" (because according to YECs anything from Asia is a fraud, archaeopteryx is also known from Germany anyway) -I wanted to tell him to f-off and watch less x-files, but instead I just flagged his comment as bullying (which it was) to shut him up Edited by stargatedalek, Aug 27 2014, 09:45 PM.

and on that note, it bothers me when someone trying to refute evolution compares it to something completely irrelevant and stupid (IE a kitchen), and it bothers me even more-so how often "anti-feather" people will spout racism to try and discredit fossils from Asia |

This is exactly why I can't wait for time travel to be invented. I want to see the gibbering mess these people will be reduced to.

The fact that Mega hates Tyrannosaurus. I'm sorry, I know we're supposed to forget about members who get banned, but I can't get over that. His only reasoning for disliking the thing is that it's overhyped, which therefore makes it a wimp. T. rex may be overhyped, but that doesn't mean it's not a 15-foot tall carnivorous reptile with teeth that are like railroad spikes! |

You're one lucky son of a reptile to have missed out on these nutjobs... Also, @Dr. Hax: It still is kinda overhyped. Where's all the love for Giganotosaurus?

Giga was if anything, a larger carchra, it was larger than the rex but far more lightweight and had substantially weaker jaws, not by any means weak, just weaker than t rex, don't get me wrong, its just that t rex's bite was so abnormally strong it could hypothetically mow cars with the ease humans chew grapes. Giga may be the tall guy, but rex is the heavyweight of the equation overhyped or not, i don't think any other land based carnivore was as massively powerfull as tyrannosaurus rex. |

Deinosuchus or Sarcosuchus. That's another bite you don't want connecting. .3. But, if what I've learned about Acrocanthosaurus is correct, it may have been able to rival the rex, not from bite strength, but just by ramming into it's side(or neck) with its neck braced and the jaws open. Like some kind of hungry battering ram from hades. Who knows, maybe Giganotosaurus had a similar behaviour to one I saw theorized about Allosaurus using it's jaw like an axe to hit prey. It might not crush bone, but that would definitely do some damage. Edited by MonsterHunterGarth, Aug 27 2014, 11:21 PM.

From what I remember the hatchet bite was a thing of Carnotaurus and Allosaurus, the other theropods could bite the "normal" way. |

Carcharodontosaurid bite seems to work more like scissors - slice off chunks of meat efficiently, cause lots of bleeding and soft tissue damage. Allosaurus' and Carnotaurus' jaws and jaw/neck muscles were adapted for the chopping style of biting, not so much for the cretaceous allosauroids. |

I completely understand Mega hating tyrannosaurus, its cliche and it keeps hogging the spotlight |

Still, it's better to hate the cliche than to hate the animal itself. It's not like T. rex itself has done anything wrong, we humans are to blame for over-using it in our media. Still, there are other closely related dinosaurs that are more interesting IMO. My personal favourite tyrannosaur ATM is Nanuqsaurus. Edited by CyborgIguana, Aug 28 2014, 08:49 AM.
