What annoys you about paleontology?; Rant on about moronic theories, complaints, or just animals that annoy you.

They're both uber-fluffy tyrannosaurs that lived in sub-zero climates, but I agree. Yutyrannus is awesome too, plus it's the tyrannosaur that really got the JP fanboys weeping. >:)

But seriously, T. rex had already been overused to death by the middle of the 20th century, and yet it continues to be overused to this day. Why?

I don't really know... You can always expect a size comparison with T. rex when there's a new discovery...

Still, there are many other theropods that were roughly the same size. Poor T. rex basically exists these days only to pander to the public, not much else.

Sue the T-Rex, you know, that famous fossil?

Kind of like Big Al, but came before Big Al?

I like T. rex just as much as any dinosaur, I just think it's cliche and over-used in media by this point.

Also the fact that at the ROM today a lady called the Parasaurolophus's crest a horn. It's nothing like a horn! Relatively minor compared to most mistakes in this topic I guess, but still.

Rat snake is love... Rat snake is life

My favorite dinosaur is Saurophaganax, and when I said its name at my university, everyone was like they are looking at kraken wrecking their ship. :P

By the way, the fact that when I meet people that are paleo-lover. They are not really the people I like to hangout with. There is a senior student at my university that like paleontology too, but he(actually I should call him "she", because... You know....) just love to hang out with the girls and gossip things... Something I never like at all...

That's something I see happenng often.
Also one of my friends once thought Parasaurolophus was actually Dilophosaurus (he kept calling the hadrosaur with the theropod's name).

Most people don't know many more dinosaurs than "T-Wreckz", "Tricerops", "Pterodactyl", "Steakosaurus", "Longnecks/Brontosaurus" and recently due to JP, "Velociraptor/Raptor". So, don't be surprised. :P
