BANDits and the increasingly desperate and illogical arguments they make. Feduccia even stated in a recent article IIRC that Ornithomimus couldn't possibly have had feathers just because the arrangement of its quill knobs is nothing like that of living birds. So...just because it had differently arranged feathers means it didn't have feathers at all?
That is just plain stupidity, is Alan Feduccia the one who said dinosaurs had to be aquatic.

I don't recall that, but it seems relatively 'in character' ;)

his work with modern birds is sound, and hes a pretty renowned ornithologist, his work with extinct birds and bird origins however is sketchy at best

Nope, Brian Ford is the idiot who said dinosaurs were aquatic. Not that Feduccia is any less stupid just because he hasn't made that claim in particular.

I wouldn't say 'stupid' so much as 'stubborn'

I got confused. Oh well Fedducia is an idiot on his 'work' on bird origins. He claims the similarities between dinosaur and bird anatomy evolved independently, come on we even have feathered dinosaurs so Fedducia did dinosaurs share a common ancestor with birds that had pennaceous feathers? I don't think so!

The answer to feathered dinosaurs according to Fedducia? It's simple, they're not actually dinosaurs! xD

well theoretically speaking if there was a separate archosaur lineage leading to birds that would mean pennaceous feathers date to before the triassic

AiG just used what the BANDits said to debunk birds evolved from dinosaurs, AiG just stop. Luckily Darren Naish explained how that has flaws.

I know that. I wonder why people say feathers on dinosaurs are just collagen fibers. Come on fluffy rexes look cooler.

I don't think many BANDits even know what collagen fibers actually are! xD I really don't think they can look that much like feathers, either.

the only possible merit would be if dinosaurs were aquatic and had thick layers of fat like cetaceans

I specifically recall a comparison of kulindadromeus to beluga

^that was also my response... xD

basically the integument of kulindadromeus is reminiscent of impressions formed by fatty tissue of cetaceans, a beluga was used as a reference

But why would a land-dwelling animal living in a climate that wasn't particularly cold have so much fatty tissue?

Come to think of it, what is it about the idea of birds being theropods that BANDits find so appalling in the first place?
