What annoys you about paleontology?; Rant on about moronic theories, complaints, or just animals that annoy you.

The primary difference is that dragons never existed, whereas dinosaurs did and still do to this day. :P

Well, that and the fact that dragons are scaly reptilian monsters with six limbs and the ability to breathe fire. xD

However I must admit, I did like watching that old documentary about dragons, the one that I think was made by BBC. Pretty sure someone made an UXP about it too.

I enjoyed that one too. I have it on DVD, in fact. I never said I didn't like dragons, just that it is by no means excusable to confuse fantasy creatures with real animals.

Should we really be saying these things about Tris? We should probably wait until his account is banned before we insult him.

I'm sure someone has said this already, but a "paleontologist" who really bothers me is Alan Feduccia. He consistently denies scientific theories that are essentially proven, and uses terrible evidence to back up those claims: one being that Scansoriopteryx/Epidendrosaurus is a feathered Coelurosauravus-esque gliding reptile with a bird-like head. That also extends to Epidexipteryx, which is obviously a dinosaur... in fact, that scientific paper is the only one I've ever heard of that has been said to be unscientific. Not a single phylogenetic analysis has agreed with his point that has very little evidence, and he may as well drop it.

Rant complete.

He should really stick to living birds IMO. All of his paleontology-related work has just been downright sad. xD

I can't even begin to describe how vexing it is to me when people can't accept feathers on, say, Troodon or Tyrannosaurus, or quills on ceratopsians, just because they look "different" from how they always have. And, of course, like many paleo-nerds, Young-Earth Creationists are also one of the single most irritating things to exist. Although I'm not extreme to the point where I believe they are a threat to society or anything of the like, their blatant denial of scientific fact will always bother me. And, of course, the constant media dino-headlines: "X was even bigger than T-Rex!" "X, cousin of T-Rex..." "New T-Rex Relative..."
And, of course, the fact that NOBODY CAN SPELL T. rex RIGHT! :implode:

Denying reality and preaching ignorance is one of the most dangerous things in society. Just look at ISIS restricting what is taught in schools in the areas they control. This is science (or rather, education) denial taken to extremes.
