I was going to comment inb4featherrage but there's already complaining What annoys me is both sides of the argument. People who complain about feathered Dinosaurs are annoying, it's scientifically appropriate (apparently, I really don't care at all), and even if it wasn't it's a different depiction of a real life species to normal, if you don't like it then don't look at it, just like I wouldn't watch something which depicted Bulls as having feathers and swords for horns. People who complain about non-feathered Dinosaurs are annoying, firstly not everything has to be perfectly accurate to your standards, and like I said above it's a different depiction of a real life species, which can be depicted however the heck the author likes. If you dislike it because the Dinosaurs aren't feathered then kindly do the same thing as above, don't watch/look at things with Non-Feathered Dinosaurs. Either way both sides are incredibly annoying to me, and I really wish people would stop turning every topic onto it. If you want to argue over it then please make a topic 'Should Dinosaurs have feathers?' and stop subverting other topics onto it Almost wishing they'd ban this argument in the same way Jurassic Park forums have banned T-Rex vs Spinosaurus arguments due to them being so inane and repetitive. |

I'm not saying everything has to be completely accurate. I can enjoy scaly dinosaurs too if the species featured aren't known by direct evidence to be feathered. For example, I can still live with a scaly Rex, but a scaly dromaeosaurid is where I draw the line. I just think people should stop treating feathered dinosaurs as a bad thing. |

I think this topic is fine for the discussion of anything possibly annoying relating to paleontology; I'm fine with feather/no feather debates as long as it stays peaceful. |

Did anyone hear about how they've discovered a way to decipher microscopic melanosomes in fossils of feathered dinosaurs, therefore allowing them to figure out what color the animal was? It's pretty fascinating http://www.sciencecodex.com/yale_scientists_complete_color_palette_of_a_dinosaur_for_the_first_time

This is what annoys us about paleontology, not paleontology in general. But yes, I have heard that. Pretty cool stuff. EDIT: Back on the topic of what's actually annoying about paleontology, I'm annoyed when pterosaurs are called prehistoric birds. I know that not everyone knows much about prehistory, but seriously, they're not birds! They don't even look like birds! If these people want to see a prehistoric bird: they should check out Archaeopteryx, Hesperornis, Ichthyornis, Iberomesornis, Alexornis, and a bunch of others. Those are actual birds from the Mesozoic, pterosaurs aren't! I could even live with non-avian maniraptoriforms like dromaeosaurids or oviraptorosaurs being called birds, since even though they're not actually birds at least they're still closely related. But pterosaurs? No...just...no! Edited by CyborgIguana, Sep 28 2013, 08:35 PM.

What about when they or Marine Reptiles are called Dinosaurs? Also, the fact that in Brazil many people can't get Dinosaurs's names right, countless times I've heard Dinosaurus Rex, Velocirápido (It would mean Velocifast in English, yes, Fast fast in Latin ), Pterodaptyl, and Ancilosaurus. The worst hough, for me (Worst because I actually said it when young), Parasaurus (I couldn't say Parasaurolophus)! But worst was what I thought that Parasaurolophus crest did, I used to think that it would paralyze predators that looked upon it! Well I was a kid, and Parasaurolophus (Or Parasaurus as I used to call it) reminded me of Paralyze, so it was a kind of explainable.

I once heard that they managed to get a small sample of T-Rex DNA and that it's closest to a "match" was Chicken DNA, don't know if that's true though.

But that doesn't mean T. rex evolved to become a chicken. They went extinct.

Yeah. Plus T.rex would have to be a maniraptoran to evolve into a chicken. T.rex, being a coelurosaur, was a close relative of birds, but not a direct ancestor. Only the avialan line of theropods evolved into birds and survived, the rest perished in the KT extinction and left no descendants. |

Oh I know that, I misunderstood what you said, sorry! By the way, in addition to Brazil's general ignorance about Dinosaurs, I've already heard people saying that Brachiosaurus evolved into Giraffes and calling Triceratops a Rhino (My Kindergarten teacher said it, it was epic, I was just a child, yet I lifted my hand and said that it wasn't a Rhino, but the Rhino's Grandfather [Yeah I thought that Triceratops was the Rhino's ancestor, but I was like what? Five? ])
